Hazard seems to have made the right hire in the off season in hiring Matt Chandler. The Bulldogs have started season 3-0 and look to make it 4-0. Hazard welcomes in 1-2 Letcher County Central this week. The Cougars are on a two game losing streak. The Cougars have lost to Raceland and Bell County. They hope to break that with a huge road win and give Hazard its first loss of the season.

Who wins this matchup? Does Hazard make it 4-0? Does Letcher County Central come in and stun the rising Bulldogs?

Pelphrey is playing as well or better than any quarterback in 1A. I liked what I saw when I checked in on last week's win over Paris. His command of the offense is what you'd expect from someone pushing 40 career starts.

This is an opportunity for Hazard to potentially take another step forward in the rankings. Letcher took Raceland to the wire a couple of weeks ago. A convincing win for the Bulldogs might compel voters to leapfrog Hazard over the Rams.

The kid has looked dialed in. He is definitely thriving in Coach Chandlers offense.

This game two years ago at Hazard was very close to a 2nd quarter running clock. Then the second half started and it completely changed. Hazard ended up hanging on to win 52-50.

The best thing about this years Hazard team is they have 4 to 5 very good wide outs. You also have to factor in Memphis Blankenship who is excelling at the running back position. ( should have got more touches over his career). Depth is usually a big issue for class 1A, but at the moment Hazard only has its skill kids going both ways.
