Didn't we see the reaction already? Speeches are not going to quell the violence in Ferguson. The curfew needs to be moved to sunset.

 

People can peacefully protest at a time when their signs can be read and their faces can be recognized.

 

The good citizens of Ferguson need to create some space between themselves and those who would loot and burn down their city so that the police and National Guard can do their jobs.

I probably would as well. I think most people would in the same situation.

He is African American and from Ferguson.

I watched about an hour of the Live Stream last night. What a train wreck. This story has taken many turns, but it now has turned in to a media hotbed filled with hostile people begging, via provocation, to be harmed to make an example of the authorities and get on television. Disgusting on all fronts.

It's what I suspected but what kind of message does that send if the only reason he was selected was because he is African Amereican? That doesn't do much for any racial tensions that may exist in the area. If he was a Colonel or in charge of the state police or something it would make more sense. I hate sounding like this but to me it looks like they literally searched out for the first African american they could throw in front of cameras to try and calm the people down whether or not he is qualified or not to be put in that position. I'm also not saying he isn't qualified, just seemed they could of went a little higher on the chain of command if you ask me.

 

Maybe Capt is the highest rank the state police have there, I don't know, just seems a little odd to me is all.

The national news networks are full of idiots and clowns. I try to watch to get some info and it's just ignorant crap. I learned nothing from them.

Officers are trained to fire until they feel the threat no longer exists. Excessive is a subjective term.

 

 

What makes it less subjective? 8 shots? 15 shots? 25 shots?

And we don't know the order of the shots either. This gives me pause though:

 

To your first point, that will probably never be determined, as I'm sure you know, other than to say the shot to the top of the skull was probably the final shot. Although that can't be proved with certainty most likely.

 

As to the second (quoted) part. I agree which is why I threw in the "as things appear now" part of my reply. If it was 100 feet, I then may question the number of shots. If it was 10 feet and Mike was still charging, 6 wouldn't be excessive to me.

On the gun shots, police officers are trained that if they shoot they shoot until the target is no longer a threat, in this case charging them.

 

Witnesses overheard on a recording thought the police officer was missing with the first shots because the kept running towards the policeman.

 

Evidence seems to suggest that the first shots hit him in the arm and the last shot (from whatever distance) is the fatal shot to the head.

 

In that situation you would not fire one shot then stop to asses the target and then aim and shoot again. So the fact that he may have been hit with two fatal shots could be because they came in back to back shots.

There are so many scenarios it's tough to tell if it was excessive or not. Like everything else in this case I'm going to wait to pass judgement.

 

Did he aim for the arm to slow him from charging him (If he was indeed charging him)? If so, why didn't he shoot him in the leg since he knew he wasn't armed? After a few shots to his arm and he was still charging him (presumably) did he then shoot for his head? Did he fire off two quick shots to the head, one that brought him down and the quick second one that got the top of his head? Or, did he shoot execution style after he was slumped over?

 

Or, did he just suck and miss center mass repeatedly and hit his arms? Makes you wonder if so because he pulled off two head shots.

 

Just a lot to ponder.

I have to be honest. I wasn't really followig the entire story when it first happened so this weekend while I was away at my sons college I flipped through the channels to find out what all the fuss was. I went to Fox and watched a little bit and found out what happened, then I flipped to MSNBC during a commercial and the first thing I saw was al Sharpton on the ground in Ferguson with his racial bias and decided to turn off all the news after that. It was sickening how he is doing the same thing he did with the Trayvon Martin case and exploiting his own image while he still ignores other incidents of white men who may have been shot by cops etc.

 

I will be honest, Al gives me nausea. He was going off about the release of the video and saying how it was character assasination because it showed Mike Brown in a bad light with the strong armed robbery etc. yet he had no problem when his very own network continued to make him out to be a nice young man. He called the video character assasination, I call what they tried to portray him as is the same thing when they purposely ignore the truth about a person because it doesn't fit their agenda.

 

I tried watching other news for updates but it seems they all spin it to go with their own personal agenda instead of reporting just facts of the case.

This is a media dream come true. The story has gone from the incident itself to the reaction with the protestors/looters/civil rights vs. the authorities. The media is Don King.
