Just read this and was getting ready to post. Again, I am not an expert, it does appear that he was shot six times, all in the front. This was an autopsy requested by Michael Brown's family lawyer. There will be a third one besides the first two.

 

I don't believe you can draw definitive conclusions what happened, but it will probably be a part of the family's defense. I am not sure the what the investigation team will do with it.

My guess is when the threat is no longer a threat. If 4 of the 6 were to the right arm there is a chance none of those were slowing Mike down. So to me, as things appear now, 6 does not seem excessive.

And we don't know the order of the shots either. This gives me pause though:

 

 

The bullets did not appear to have been shot from very close range because no gunpowder was present on his body. However, that determination could change if it turns out that there is gunshot residue on Mr. Brown’s clothing, to which Dr. Baden did not have access.

My first thoughts are that this will be the key point in the case. Was 6 shots excessive? Again that's what I am thinking now. It could change as more information is released. Still way to early to tell. I don't even know if this admissible or will be consistent with the other two autopsies.

I don't think that there is enough information to make that judgment. There has been conflicting information about how far away the shots were fired and according to Baden's autopsy, he could not say conclusively that none of the shots were taken at close range because he did not have access to Brown's clothes to check for powder residue.

 

If the last two shots were taken from 35 feet away, then in my non-professional opinion, that would seem excessive - but if the last two shots were taken at close range, then maybe it wasn't. The autopsy seems to contradict eyewitness accounts that Brown was first shot in the back and then turned.

Baden also said this:

 

 

He stressed that his examination was not to determine whether the shooting was justified.

 

“In my capacity as the forensic examiner for the New York State Police, I would say, ‘You’re not supposed to shoot so many times,’ ” said Dr. Baden, who retired from the state police in 2011. “Right now there is too little information to forensically reconstruct the shooting.”

If it is me, than I keep shooting until I no longer feel the target is a threat.

I probably would as well. I think most people would in the same situation.

It's amazing that the kid with him lied for his version of the story. So now there's a witness that says he didn't get

shot in the back with his hands up. Kind of figured that would happen.

And with the autopsy that was released stating that all 6 shots were from the front his "friends" testimony will be easy to be seen as lying. And as was mentioned above, this was from the private autopsy that the family of the kid who was killed had done. I am sure he was lying either because it was his friend and/or because it was a cop who killed the guy. Just goes to show, you can't rely 100% on what a witness says 100% of the time, especially before a possible trial.

Officers are trained to fire until they feel the threat no longer exists. Excessive is a subjective term.
