Well, I suggest that you debate me on my positions and leave the critique of my methods up to the moderators. My methods are pretty simple. Give an opinion and support it with facts to the best of my ability. Ferguson is a mess and appeasing racists is no more effective than appeasing terrorists or bullies, and that is what is going on right now.

 

It is hard to hold peaceful protests when such a large number of people are just wanting to loot and vandalize. Groups like the New Black Panthers and individuals like Al Sharpton serve no useful purpose in such situations and defending them is nonsense.

 

I am a strong proponent of the First Amendment and the police in Ferguson are failing to provide a safe environment for citizens to exercise their right to assemble.

My twitter feed has it out of control in Ferguson. Journalists getting arrested by Captain Ron and then released by Captain Ron. Roland Martin tweeted that more leaders are needed on the streets at night because the people out there aren't listening to anyone. Tear gas being shot into the crowd. McDonalds was looted.

 

No mention of the New Black Panthers or Al being there to calm the crowd.

A good long-term strategy requires good short-term tactics. When you appease criminals, all you get is more crime, and that is what has been happening in Ferguson the past few nights. It sounds like the police have realized that the peaceful approach of dealing with crime is failing and are taking a much tougher approach tonight.

 

What is going on in Ferguson is the kind of thing that causes the flight of whites and middle class blacks to the suburbs. Few people who can afford to leave a city where the police cannot provide any security will stay behind.
