As an aside, I will say since I have changed cable companies and now have MLB Network I have been watching a lot more baseball. Not everyone likes him but I have missed Harold Reynolds.

Would you be more interested in baseball if there was a salary cap? Maybe that's a question for a different thread...

barely edges out hockey , but I'm ready to bring on hockey , as opposed to the stupidity known as MLB . I've had all the knuckle heads I can take . Players that just so entirely average making 8-10 mil a year . Not with my support . And Im in the minority here but I think they milk injuries and stay on the DL far too much .

So baseball is third for me among the Big 4. And the only reason it's above the NBA is because I hate watching the NBA regular season more. I love postseason of about any sport, but baseball at least manages to wrap it up in just over a month.

And I dont count cars going in a circle as a sport .

When it comes to professional sports its the NFL and then MLB and then the NBA. The NBA possibly could have been 2nd if we had a local team.

 

With that said MLB falls 4th in the top sports I like and watch. Its the NFL, College Basketball, College Football, and then MLB.

No PGA fans on here? Not my favorite, but if you include NASCAR you have to include golf.

NFL is the king. Not much arguement can be made about that, and I would give the NBA the nod at second place. I still like to go to the ballpark about once a year, but I pretty much checked out of MLB 10 years ago or so. Season is way to long, I usually don't even watch the playoffs as I would rather watch NCAA / NFL football once that begins. At this point I'm more likely to watch the MLS than MLB. I consider myself to be a sports fan, but I couldn't really tell you anything about this MBL season other than Jeter is going to retire.

Rarely watch it on television. Whereas I'm glued to televised football games (and I like attending them even more than baseball games) for hours on end.

I watched the last 20 laps of the Brickyard and was shocked at how many empty seats there were. I remember going to the first one 21 years ago and being packed in there shoulder to shoulder.

 

Never could see the attraction in watching people turn left (regardless of my political affiliation) for hours.

My problem with the MLB, right now, is the time in which it takes to play the games. Getting a game over in less three and an half hours is a rarity, or seems like it, anymore. Yesterday, we were 3 hours in and just in the top of the 7th. There were 10 walks issued by both teams, but only 11 hits by both. Not a whole lot of pitching changes either. It was a typical game that used to take no more than 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

 

I've watched several games this year that went more than 4 hours for 9 innings. That's OK if your listing on the radio, while doing something else, but to devote that kind of time over a 162 game season? I like baseball, but not that much.

 

It's not like that in the minors. The umps push the game along.

Exactly the same here

Baseball will always be my sport but I don't like some of the directions it has taken. Even replay, I miss seeing the Lou Pinella and Earl Weaver explosions. For every technological "advancement" made, we sacrifice some of the personal and human element. But there is no better game than baseball, in my very subjective opinion.

If the Reds played a 16 -inning , 7 hour marathon, I would watch every single pitch to its conclusion. Baseball is such a unique and funny game. If you love baseball, it grabs ahold of you early on and you are hooked for life.

I hope we are only talking about the on field product (which ain't all that it's hyped up to be) because the NFL outside the playing field bores me to distraction...
