Who are the strongest Football players in the state???

This isn't CrossFit. Strength is how much you can pull down or up, not whether you can do a pull up.

Agreed. Crossfit is more about building your body with full body exercises and body weight workouts. Sports like football, you have to train like a weightlifter/powerlifter. Your goal is to put up as much weight as possible.

And you're sorely mistaken if you don't think a strict pull-up is not a good measure of strength. Not the crossfit kipping pull-ups you're talking about...but a true strict pull-up.

We're getting into a little battle over semantics, but I am not mistaken. I originally quoted someone, who seemed to be a little miffed over short armed individuals who could bench. He stated that a pull up is a better measure of strength. But it is hardly a measure that can be used to gauge who is stronger. It shows a level of fitness, with regards to your strength to your body weight, but hardly measurable across the board to say who is stronger.

My son last year coming out of wrestling season was 5'8 and 130 lbs. One year later, he is 5' 10 and 175 lbs. He could do 10 forward grip, strict pull ups last year at 130, he can only do 5 now. Was he stronger last year at 130?

If we wanted to MEASURE his strength, I would need to strap a 45 lb plate around his waste (at 130) and ask him to do pull ups and compare to now. He was more fit last year with a relationship of body mass to his strength, but he was fractionally as strong.

Some people have longer arms, longer torsos which may make their lifts harder, but still the bench, deadlift, squat are good static measurable lifts. The pull up will make you stronger if you execute, but hardly measurable.

First and foremost I hate Crossfit, but you can't put a definition on what "strong" truly is. You can't just strap a 45lb plate to his body and tell him to do pull ups and think that compares. As you said he gained 45lbs over the course of a year, the body learned to carry the weight over time, not all at once.

Give me a kid who can Bench Press 200lbs and can rep 10 pull ups, then a kid who can bench 250lbs and does none.

I heard the guard from SK I believe Sandlin (hope I spelled that right) benches over 400. UKfan can you confirm that?

Benches 350, squats 515 and power cleans 315.

Give me a kid who can drive block, lock you down if he gets into your body, bull rush a lineman, shed blockers, or roll his hips on a tackle. FUNCTIONAL strength. What do you need the person to do? This is a football forum after all.

Ryle will host a 7 on 7 event in July with a Big Man event the same day for linemen. I am hoping a lot of the NKY schools attend. It will be interesting to see what events are part of the big man competition. I believe it is July 25th or 27th. Highlands will be attending.

Evan Richardson 450 bench press.

Wow! That's impressive. Evan will anchor an impressive offensive line next year for the Birds. He with fellow teammates, Bo Hebel, Carson Haas will be beast this upcoming season. Can't wait to see these men dominate teams!

If true, that would beat Rob Smith while he was at Tennessee, correct?

Wow. big time lift! Was it raw? No bench shirt? Is he 300 pounds +?

No where near 300lbs...

Seems like he was under 250 last season, not sure what he's at now.

Wow. If this is a true lift. This should put him in the top for his weight class in power lifting. 2x body weight bench would be in finals at power meets.

I thought the kid that went to Ohio State Scott Kuhnhein held the records?
