Olmstead from SK owns the bench press record at SK.

Zach Mastin broke the squat record for his weight class as a sophomore. Now a senior squats 485. Plays LB at Bourbon county

Olmstead is well over 300 lbs he should be very strong indeed ,I assume he benches well over 400 .what are his other lifts Squat Deadlift and so on.

That's a good squat for a kid .

And CC has a player around 400 who should surpass it by years end with a Deadlift over 600 and a squat who knows where I would guess around low 5s with a few weeks work .

There used to be NKY HS powerlifting Championships in the 80s and 90s ,surprised they have disappeared I remember Ludlow Campbell County and even small schools like Bellevue had some great lifters back then Dixie had some very powerful kids as well ,a great way to raise money for schools and teams as well with lifters getting sponsers who donate change per lb lifted ,some nice awards /medals for kids and teams and more goals for young athletes would be great for the sport as well as seeing who is really doing what in the weight room .

I would like to see powerlifting come back to NKY the way it was in the 80's and 90's. Western KY and Eastern KY continue to have good powerlifting programs. Trinity, North Bullett, Mercer Co., and Trigg Co. have done very well recently. Most of the eastern mountain teams have powerlifting clubs. Went to an event at North Laurel HS (London, KY) this March. Over 500 players from 17 teams. Great event. I hear Boyd County has a good event in early March.

I am not aware of any NKY schools with powerlifting clubs. I believe Connor or Bonne Co. used to have an annual event in the 80's.

That's great stuff ,seems there would be more interest in such things in NKY like in the 80s and 90s

Just to the north Cincy Columbus and in general Ohio is some of the greatest powerlifters in the nation not so much in the High Schools but still a huge following that could spread to the High schools and various sports .

I cannot understand why it did not grow and instead went the opposite direction is it a problem amongst various teams wanting to keep their numbers to themselves or just lack of interest or improper promotion of the sport ??

Not blasting anyone 330 is not a great bench for anyone of that sise in HS Campbell County had 165 lbers who could do that in the 80s The Yeager Brothers ,Dixie had a kid named Hatfield who squatted 500 as did Bellevue McGahay ,both able to bench around that or more at 220 ??

This is actually a good topic for the off season ,it would be neat to hear some of the team/school records for various schools .

In terms of 14-18yr old kids, yea 330 is a pretty great bench. If you're in high school and bench over 300 and squat over 400 you're a pretty strong dude. No matter what your size.

Tyler Addesa (Meade County 2015, TE/OLB/DE/FB) Weights 204 Height 6'1, Bench 315..Squat 400...PC 250.

At the HS events, 300 lb. bench will get respect. 330 will get you somewhere in the top ten. 350+ will put you in the hunt to win the meet. Above 330, every ten lbs. is a major gain. I have only personally seen three high school players at 400 or above (one got 405 and two got 415 before graduation).

P.S. I remember the Yeager brothers at Campbell. Kelly and his brother (can't remember his name) were dedicated to it. Super strong guys for their size.
