Weirdly enough I had a book about the Male / Manual rivalry and old press clippings called Manual the Reds, the name changed to crimsons to avoid communist comparisons

During Nichols tenure one year we got jerseys with black numbers by mistake, was supposed to be black outline of white numbers. Some older alumni complained and I researched and found Manual's original colors were Red, White, and Black, no mention of crimsons.
