What schools could be forced to change their name?

Gotta admit that NKY has some doozies- Camels and Polar Bears in counties that are less than 30 miles apart....how does that happen. Campbell a desert and Bracken a winter wonderland? Don't think so.

You ever play on the old "Pyramid" field on a hot dry Friday night on top of that straw that used to be grass? :lol2:

Got to get rid of the "Bluebirds" the fear and oppression we thrust upon earthworms is overwhelming. This whole name changing thing is petty. While not "full blooded" I have quite a few ancestors that were, dare I say it, of "Indian" heritage and really it almost seems to get me worked up the other direction when this is brought up.

Already changed it once for all the crybabies...

Highlands used to be the Blue Devils and changed it to the Bluebirds to be more Christian like:thumb:

I rarely ever hear people refer to HHS as "Bluebirds" anyway, typically hear more name references such as the following based on the geographic locations

NKY - Highlands, HHS, Cake Eaters, Cheaters and my favorite, That team from Ft Thomas

East and West KY - Ft Thomas Highlands, Ft Thomas, Highland, Cheaters

Central KY - Highlands, Lorenzen's School, Cheaters

Happy Friday...

If PETA gets involved this could get ugly :)

I heard they have an issue with the BW Tiger mascot being red and white as the orange and black tigers find it offensive.

If we want to name teams for "new culture heroes", how about "The Occupiers" "The Perpetual Victims" "The Fighting Algores"?

A bulldog barked at me once, so Male's mascot offends me. They should change to the shihtzus. Of course, there could be a transition period where the names were combined.

I don't think Beechwood likes "Cardinals"

Specific Cardinals, yes.

Ryle Raiders

Reminds me of Morgans Raiders. So yeah, I'm offended. :)

The Trimble County Raiders are names for John Hunt Morgan's raiders, as Morgan's trail goes through Trimble County. Seems odd to me, to honor the person/people that raided your land.

Silver Grove Big Trains. Small trains across the Commonwealth are feeling inadequate.

Frederick Fraize Aces. All of the other 52 cards in the deck are jealous.

Grant County and Union County Braves. Cowards are, well, cowering.

Harrison County Thoroughbreds. Morgans, quarterhorses and the like are protesting that they feel gelded.

Harrison County is cool b/c they spell Thoroughbred differently. They spell it as Thorobred, so that is really nothing. It is ok.

No, sorry, sounds too much like :poop:, I'm offended.

I've never really been a fan of the Rebels nickname, especially when you see some of the color schemes and mascots.

Let's face it, we kind of know what someone is going for if they are the "Rebels" have a color scheme of Red, Blue, and White, and their mascot looks strikingly like a Confederate solider and/or makes similar reference to something that has a Confederate connotation.

This Allen Central logo, there's no question what they're going for:

Todd County Central's 'Rebels' and strikingly Confederate color scheme is a little much too.

Casey County having that color scheme and wearing 'Rebs' on their helmet, plus having "Rebel Week" shirts for the big game with Corbin isn't in very good taste, but if you know much about either of those schools, non-conformity PC thought about that kind of thing is something that some there would take as a compliment.

I think there is a way that schools can be the 'Rebels' and still be fairly PC. Boyle County is a 'Rebels' team, but they have a black and gold/yellow color scheme. The UNLV Runnin' Rebels are red and silver but their 'rebel' is more a tribute to the "Old Vegas", desert-cowboy stereotype.

Harrison County is cool b/c they spell Thoroughbred differently. They spell it as Thorobred, so that is really nothing. It is ok.

Could be offensive to teachers across the state.

Villa used to be the Vipers but changed it to Blue Lightning. Way ahead of the curve unless we have some smurf lovers out there.

Believe they were the Vixen (all girls school at the time).
