June 15, 201412 yr I would say kids for the most part follow their friends if they have not already been destined to one school or the other. You can't say that an entire NCC family at St. Joe's isn't going to send their kids to NCC. I don't feel that is something against Brossart, its just what their family does. I would think the same goes the other way. A family at St. Therese with a long history at Brossart won't generally change their thinking and just send their kids to NCC. The issue I'm gathering from this is the "marketing" and if one catholic school is permitted to promote their school in another catholic school's feeder. That is really what I think this coming down to. You can't do anything about what I said first, but you can do something about what is being said in those schools. Don't think our kids don't see the tug back and forth for kids that go to Brossart or NCC. Its all silly in my mind. I have been a member of St Therese almost 40 years and offhand I know of no family attending there with along history at Bishop Brossart . if the kids don't go to NCC the go to the other Ft Thomas Catholic school . St. Highlands .
June 15, 201412 yr A child with disabilities could attend a Catholic school. But the public schools have a larger special education staff, and overall the public schools have more resources for students with special needs. That's not to say that the Catholic schools don't have some systems in place to provide services for special needs kids. Holy Cross has a very large % of kids that are in some type of LD program.
June 15, 201412 yr Holy Cross has a very large % of kids that are in some type of LD program. What is the %?
June 15, 201412 yr What is the %? Over 50 students are in the HC program. The following is an explanation of the Holy Cross Academic Enhancement Program from their website: Academic Enhancement Program | Holy Cross High School
June 15, 201412 yr Holy Cross has a very large % of kids that are in some type of LD program. I have heard that about HC. I plan to check out their programs. HC is setting a nice example for other Catholic High Schools. St Henry has recently invested in more LD staff and programs as well.

Mustang, Perhaps you would know if Brossart has ever had a student in a wheelchair, or maybe a visual impairment, to perhaps even a minority with a language barrier? Kids in these circumstances are not "too much trouble" by any means and accommodations would probably be easier than people think.
June 16, 201412 yr Ryan Lloyd, who has spina bifida, graduated from Brossart about 3 years ago. His legs were severly under developed. While you would see him using crutches most of the time, it was also common to see him walking around on all fours. I know he played football for one year, and I think he also wrestled. There was a story in the news on him about playing football and it was also posted here on BGP!
June 18, 201412 yr Did the principal resign or was he fired? A little birdie told me that Dick Stewart was fired by Mike Clines because attendance #s had dropped at Brossart "under his watch". The bad part is that the diocese had known since late March or early April where their #s were, yet they waited until late May to fire Mr. Stewart, leaving him with a terribly short time to find a new job for the next school year. If this is true, and I have no reason to believe it's not, that's a really crappy thing for the Diocese to do to Dick.

July 26, 201511 yr Have to laugh after reading some of the posts on this topic from more than a year ago. As we see now, much ado about nothing really. Both NCC and BB are doing just fine - great as ever. Also obvious that Mustang certainly knows his stuff. He speaks the TRUTH!
July 26, 201511 yr The bishop didnt want to combine schools just wait till another big oil of cash is thrown him to purchase the property that NewCath sits on. I promise it will not be passed up again.
July 26, 201511 yr From what I'm told, this years school play made over $80,000, yes $80,000, over the course of the two weeks it ran. The NCC play this year generated $100,000 for tuition assistance. I'm thinking it is because my niece was in it.:ylsuper:
