May 1, 201412 yr They have already banned him for life, and declared that they will attempt to forciblly make him sell the team, short of stealing the team from him, what more could they do. Why pay the fine if you are him. Are they going to be like the US criminal courts and ban him for two lives. No, they'd just sue him for the fine and very likely win, so he'd not only be out of the fine, but all the attorneys fees he spent on it, plus court costs. He's a billionaire, it's not like he's going to be able to say "I ain't got it" when they look to collect on his fine.

They will be buying the franchise. The NBA isn't taking anything away from Sterling. They are voting to force him to sell the franchise for a violation of the owners agreement...

Seriously, you don't see the difference between somebody losing something, and getting nothing in return...versus selling the same thing and getting a billion dollars in return? Yes, the end result is the same (no franchise)...and yes, the motive behind them is the same (him being forced)...but, let's not make it out like he's going to be a victim when it's all said in done. He will likely end up being in the same type of situation as he would have if he had decided to sell the team last week...a very rich man, getting much, much richer.
