If the conversations were illegally recorded why hasn't Sterling pressed charges yet? Hard to imagine a billionaire not calling the cops when violated. Especially in the manner he was violated.

I don't feel the penalty is too harsh, should have fined him more money since 2.5 million is a drop in the bucket. Taking his team is about as good as they can do and it still probably don't bother him.

I don't think the taping of a conversation is criminal. Someone correct me if wrong. He might be able to file a civil claim.

 

Also, I thought I heard that Sterling knew the conversations were being recorded.

 

As to the fine, I read that the max fine was $1M so I was surprised when I heard it was a $2.5M fine. It is a shame the fine couldn't be higher than the $2.5M.

They also wouldn't have a transcript like Sterling (that you haven't bothered to read, despite your incessant need to comment on this topic), neither in this situation or historically. If you don't believe me, just Google the court transcripts and testimony (under oath, mind you, and I'm sure that swearing on the Bible is a big deal to you based on what I infer from everything you've posted, but feel free to disagree if you don't). That testimony led to him paying the largest fine for housing discrimination ever.

 

I really hope you can see how people aren't piling on Sterling because he's someone who made a mistake and everyone caught him at his worst moment. He has a history of this kind of thing. We're talking about a guy who is still married to one woman and has another girlfriend who is ready to scorch Earth like this.

 

If this were a politician that some posters disagreed with, you can bet we wouldn't be hearing the end of how horrible this man's character was, but it should tell you something that practically no one is coming to the side of Sterling in this.

So you think the league went through a poop-storm of negative publicity for three days and what figures to be months if not years of expensive court proceedings to orchestrate the ouster of a crummy owner and force the sale of the team to one of the game's most beloved figures? Seems pretty implausible.
