April 30, 201412 yr Adam Silver is a lawyer and worked for one of the best law firms in the country. I'm confident he did what he could. I'm sure too. I'm just reading the code and going off of what someone said on here that he approved of the recordings when he heard about it. I seriously doubt that he would do that.
April 30, 201412 yr What, so now you're saying Silver was in on it? What leads you to believe that? Someone mentioned it on here. No facts, no evidence. Merely hearsay. I'm saying "If" he did.
April 30, 201412 yr I'm confused about what you are saying? Sterling admitted that it was him on the recording to Silver.
April 30, 201412 yr Cant he just give the team to his wife or 3 kids so it wont be sold? That is his right isnt it?
April 30, 201412 yr Cant he just give the team to his wife or 3 kids so it wont be sold? That is his right isnt it?I think that would have to be approved by the NBA.
April 30, 201412 yr I mean, he's clearly a family man... :lol2: He and his wife were separated for a long time. He didn't hide his girlfriends after the separation including this one being seated next to him at many games.
April 30, 201412 yr I'm confused about what you are saying? Sterling admitted that it was him on the recording to Silver. Scratch that. I actually reread it as I was responding to you. Had Sterling directed, solicited, actually induced, or actually caused Sterling's mistress to record the conversations, he would be in trouble. He didn't do any of that. If she contacted him, and she told him what she was up to, and he just said ok, he would be fine. It is only if he told her to, contacted her to do it, pressured her to do it, or MADE her do it would he have been in trouble. I misread all of that. That's why I don't practice.
April 30, 201412 yr Cant he just give the team to his wife or 3 kids so it wont be sold? That is his right isnt it? His wife is as much of a bigot if not more than he is. I'm not trying to agree with Sterling here but he must not be too terribly racist if he was dating a half black woman and paying a black coach a ton of money. I mean obviously he's a sick racist but not so much so that it prevented him from doing that.
April 30, 201412 yr That's my whole point. There isn't a link. We haven't heard a word from him but folks act like his penalty is too harsh or out of bounds or whatever. Please. The Clippers have never been worth more than they are worth now. He's going to laugh his racist butt to the bank and add to his net worth. He's not fighting for his team. Why should anyone fight for him? I don't think anyone thinks the penalty is to harsh. I don't think there is a penalty harsh enough the man is going to make 1 billion dollars off this "punishment" , so there is no reason to feel sorry for him. But I don't think it's unfair to raise a question on how this forced sale could affect future punishments. What if an owner comes out and says he is against gay marriage will that be hate speech? Will the NBA be forced to punish that person. Even though I don't like the precedent this may set I feel it had to be done both from a personal and business standpoint. It's just one of those cases where we can hopefully call it a unique case and not apply it to future cases.
April 30, 201412 yr Sorry he has 2 kids, one overdosed a few yrs ago, maybe last year. His wife was given OK by Doc rivers to attend game. She isnt innocent for sure. Shelly Sterling: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | HEAVY

Bad analogy.
April 30, 201412 yr Yeah, racist plantation owners never knocked up their slaves , and that's how Sterling thinks of himself. Bad analogy. You miss the part where I said he's a sick racist? Paying a black coach was also conveniently skipped over by you.
April 30, 201412 yr You miss the part where I said he's a sick racist? Paying a black coach was also conveniently skipped over by you. Again, Sterling thinks of the coach just like he does the players. The coach is simply Sterling's version of slave foreman/"house (negro)" on his plantation.
April 30, 201412 yr Watch the interview with her. What a cool faceguard, AWESOME. Stiviano Lawyer Says She's Sad Over Sterling Ban | NBC Southern California
April 30, 201412 yr That's different than a phone conversation where there is only one other party. W/ each additional person, your EXPECTATION of PRIVACY (and that is what is key to my gripe) becomes less and less. While it is a private get together, it is still a public function as there are people there that are merely friends. You may feel comfortable with them, but it is different. It is a case-by-case deal, and in this case, and ESPECIALLY with his past history, he should be gone. He should have been gone after losing the previous legal battle. The difference here w/ Sterling is that he was having a one-on-one conversation over the phone. His expectation of privacy was heightened (unless he told her to record it, like UK said.) California Civil Code Section 1708.8 - California Attorney Resources - California Laws I'm guessing he'll be suing her if he did not give her permission. If it hasn't been said it wasn't a phone conversation and it is being reported that he had her recording conversations becuase of his aging memory. She played him. Pure and simple. She played him and she won.
