I visited Dave last night, I sat with him and held his hand and talked to him. I know the above post states that the doctor doesn't think he comprehends what we are saying, I refuse to believe that. I told him of the wonderful outpouring of love and support from all of you here on BGP, I just believe in my heart that he hears that.

I didn't get any response as I spoke to him, he didn't open his eyes while I was there or squeeze my hand, however he did give both my wife and my daughter a little squeeze of the hand once while they talked to him. Well of course, like we didn't know Dave is a ladies man!

I am so thankful to all of you for your continued prayers and support, please keep the prayers coming as they are so desperately needed. Also, please pray for Dave's parents and brothers, this is so very hard on them as they love Dave so much. It just breaks my heart seeing them hurting like this, they are strong and dealing with it as best they can but they need our love, support and prayers too.

Thank you, RTS, for keeping us updated. Thanks for your visits and for leading the BGP prayer rally. I will continue to pray for Birdsfan and his family.

RTS you are a good friend to Dave. Keep up the good work and prayers. Dave was very good to my wife when she was having some medical issues back in the fall and winter. Keep fighting the fight BF. You can beat this as you have many other obstacles that have been thrown at you over the years.

Stopped by to visit Dave this evening. No change really to speak of with the exception of one thing. As I was getting ready to leave, I grabbed his hand to tell him I'd see him later and his mom said again as she did earlier "Dave, John's here". I said " ah heck, he liked to call me by my last name a lot", so I said my last name to him about twice and he slowly began to open his eyes and then kept them open! He kept them open for a few minutes, blinking occasionally. I'd like to think he heard me and was trying to let me know he heard me, and until someone can prove otherwise that is what I believe in my heart. Keep praying folks!

Keep fighting Dave, I got your back buddy, I had to run a couple of people off your corner perch the other day at DCM at the spring practice, I told them that this spot is reserved...Just sayin

I remember the first time I met Dave, we were getting together at Applebee's and I got there early. Dave texted me and said I'm here but I can't find you. I started looking around and BF was motoring around the other side of Applebee's, there I stood waving like an idiot to get his attention, he didn't see me, but everyone else did. Finally, he saw me and we had a great lunch together.

 

We got to know each other when his nephew broke his leg in his first year of football. Dave was worried that he would never play football again. I had my team sign a football and wish him a speedy recovery. We sent the ball and a team photo to Dave's nephew. Dave sent me a very nice picture of him, his nephew and their family with his nephew holding the ball.

 

We, of course, got to know each very well as moderators and spent a lot of time talking. Dave is a great man with a pure heart.

 

Keep fighting Dave, get well and come back to us. We are better people with you here to help us.

Everyone I'm sorry I have not posted today. Left out of here around midnight last evening and finally got some sleep after 24+.

 

Today I got back to the hospital around 2:00pm. Nothing really going on till about 2o minutes ago. David opened his eyes and let out two great big yawns sticking his tongue out following the second. Even more important, during the second yawn he tilted his right wrist up. Huge encouragement.

 

I cannot stress enough how in debt we are to everyone for praying and posting nice thoughts here. As I mentioned earlier, they lift my parents spirits in ways you all will never know. You sit here hour after hour and try and remain optimistic. But honestly you cannot avoid the emotional up's and downs. You all know what I'm talking about. Last evening I opened the house and literally fell to pieces.

 

Please keep your prayers coming for David and my parents. Thank all of you.
