February 28, 201412 yr Was told by a good friend that UK lost while I was taking in the Augusta/Bracken County game. I DVR'd it but deleted it without watching a single second when I got home. I knew after the North Carolina game that this team was not going to be a legit title contender, but I never dreamed they'd be as average as they have been.

Who needs the frustration.

February 28, 201412 yr Something that was telling about the game for me: seeing Arkansas' bench players having their arms locked while watching the game, jumping up and cheering while only seeing that from the KY players on the floor and a few on the bench.

I decided to stay home last night to watch UK instead of going to watch my high school team in the district finals....bad decision on my part. Just very frustrating how they play at times. I am sure that coach Cal feels the same way.
February 28, 201412 yr Stupidest, dumbest, lousiest play of the game. IMO, although they didn't deserve to win any way, this play cost them the game in regulation. They had about 12 seconds left on the shot clock and could have gotten off a decent shot. Arkansas took the lob away all night and they still tried it at least 5 times and were never close. Not taking care of the basketball, mental errors and 50% free throws took them down tonight. Nothing more. Nothing less. Agree. They made a lot of stupid plays as a team, but Harrison's lob when UK had a 2 point lead with 30 seconds to go had to top them all. Arkansas had been ready for that type of play all night. So, instead of trying to work the ball and get off a decent shot, he tries a Hollywood play at the worst possible time. Also, what good is a dribble-drive offense if your dribble-drivers can't make free throws. I may be from the old school of basketball but there's absolutely no excuse for a college basketball team to be this bad at the foul line. The staff should have taken care of this problem by this time of the season. Arkansas didn't miss a free throw, 16-16. And that's one of the reasons they won the game.
February 28, 201412 yr I think one of the biggest downfalls for this UK team is they don't have a true point guard. Andrew IS NOT a PG. Assuming that he does someday play at the next level, it won't be as a PG. He's too slow, especially on defense, doesn't shoot the ball well enough, is an average ball handler, doesn't make teammates around him better like most PG's do, and makes poor decisions. I realize he is only a freshman (but the pg from Syracuse is only a freshman, too, and look how he's played this year. Look how Knight played in 2011 for the Cats)and may improve in some of these areas, but I don't believe he will ever master that position. And if he can't play that spot, where else can he help a team. In Cal's offense there has to be an efficient PG. He didn't have one last year and he doesn't again this season.
February 28, 201412 yr If they were Sophmores and older I'd agree, but theyre still frosh playing like frosh. So if they hang around next year the excuse will be they're playing like sophomores. Sorry, I cannot buy that. They're not freshman basketball wise at this point in the season. Maybe Cal's magic isn't working any longer.

You blame it on just being stupid. They have shot that way all year thats Cals offense "Dribble Drive" which is fine if you can finish and make foul shots??? Plus now Cals cut out the use of his bench players which has given them sparks all season. They are their own worst enemy getting hard to watch.
February 28, 201412 yr I was complaining in the first half that the officials were not calling any fouls and UK was not getting to the line, then in the second half I was hoping that they would quit calling fouls and that UK would not get to the line.:isurrender:
February 28, 201412 yr Not a lot to say that hasn't been said. So I'll focus on Knight: Besides mentioning "Secondary Defender" 100x, he wasn't completely awful last night in regards to UK at least. However, I can't stand a commentator who constantly refers to players by their position and rarely by name. Do your job. Do your homework or get out. I actually missed Jimmy Dykes last night. Wow, I just said it. Frustrating loss.
