February 28, 201412 yr Bad loss for UK but good win for the SEC I know what you are saying, but anyone who watches 5 minutes of this game sees how bad the SEC is this season. That was an ugly, ugly basketball game and the longer it went, the worse both teams played. That overtime was filled with some bad basketball - almost unwatchable. The refs definitely contributed to the ugliness. I saw more uncalled hand checks in this game than I can recall in all previous UK games combined. Hack anybody taking it to the rim and don't worry about getting a foul called. Anything goes when fighting for a rebound. It wasn't one sided at all, just swallow the whistle and watch them go. It sure helped make that game ugly. I have a tip for everyone ... do not get to thinking Florida is all that good and pick them too deep in your bracket. The SEC is making them look better than they are.
February 28, 201412 yr UK shot 34.2% from the field and 54.5% from the FT line with 18 turnovers and 7 assists. Those numbers seem to be a recipe for a loss, and the Cats got what they deserved. I was impressed with WCS tonight though, pretty much kept them in the game.

February 28, 201412 yr At what point do we quit calling the players dumb, and start blaming it on the instruction they are getting or the lack thereof? The coaches have to share in the blame for sure. Cal has got to put together a four minute game plan that this team can execute. Right now they are clueless and it was on full display the last four minutes and in OT.
February 28, 201412 yr Why didn't cal call a timeout on the last possession before OT? Stupid I go back and forth on that. Personally, I lean towards not calling the timeout. If you have prepared and know what you want to do, calling a timeout helps the defense more than the offense IMO.

They looked lost out there and that shot was terrible.
February 28, 201412 yr Can someone explain to me when we were up by 2 with 29 secs left in the game, why Harrison throws up a horrible lob? PlYs like that you can't blame in being a freshman. You blame it on just being stupid. Stupidest, dumbest, lousiest play of the game. IMO, although they didn't deserve to win any way, this play cost them the game in regulation. They had about 12 seconds left on the shot clock and could have gotten off a decent shot. Arkansas took the lob away all night and they still tried it at least 5 times and were never close. Not taking care of the basketball, mental errors and 50% free throws took them down tonight. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Even before at U.K. I remember in Championship game at Memphis / Kansas.....this same situation happened more than once down the stretch of that game. Cal's philosophy on that is to let it play out and not give the opponent a chance to set a defense. Cal's lack of calling t/o's cost him a national title at Memphis, jmo. I like Cal and there are other coaches that feel the same as he does in that setting while other coaches get the t/o, set up a play and/or options off of it. I happen to agree with calling the t.o. but Cal has coached a few more games than me and at a much higher level of play .
February 28, 201412 yr As I had said earlier, I do believe that the effort was there tonight. The Cats played hard. Execution was what was bad along with missing ft's and a ton of easy lay ups, put backs from Off. rebounds. No doubt that this was a bad loss, especially at home. I think that our seeding in the tourney just went down. A run in the SEC tourney may bring the seed the Cat's get back up some but now all they can do is play hard, execute better and go with whatever we get. I do believe that WCS playing like he did tonight will be a key to how far this team goes in the SEC and NCAA tourneys. That along with somehow the twins play smarter :no: :idunno:
