Henry Co Job is Open

They are down to the top three. They interview sometime over the next couple of days. Henry County will make an announcement by Wednesday of next week.

 

Who are the finalist and where are they from.

I cant confirm it but I was told 2 of the 3 are:

 

Don Miller- DC from Woodford County

Ekstien (sp?) - Head Coach from Westren Hills

Engstrand...I think is a closer spelling for the coach at Western Hills.

Miller, is that the guy that was DC at Dunbar before Hensley got there? He has only been at Woodford for a year right? I thought I heard somewhere that Engstrand was from Henry, is that right? Does Engstrand run the spread offense? What about the guy from Pikeville?

yes, Miller was at Dunbar. He does a great job coaching up the defense. IMo he will be a good coach. Engstrand ran option last season at Hills. Rumor is he is wanting to do the Tony " Mumme" Franklin Scheme.

Engstrand ran the option out of every formation known to man last year. He is currently installing the spread.

One of the finalist told me last night he was turned away. The announcement was susposed to be at noon today. Any news. All signs are pointing to Engstrand from Wetern Hills.

Engstrand resigned from WHHS today and informed the players of his decision to accept the position at Henry County.

I always though Western Hills would be a great job/opportunity. I understand why coach Engstrand may have left but haven't they gone through several coaches in the last several years? I thought that the administration was supportive, the facilities are great, and the young men seem to be very competitive. Good Luck to Coach E and Henry County and also best of luck to Western Hills in their search. Will they wait the 30 days are have an emergency situation in order to get someone quick?

Why do you think they have gone through so many coaches? Western Hills is considered the "other" school in Franklin County and is treated as such.

Which now was a waste of time and schools money. The coaching staff has paid money to learn the new ( Tony Franklin) scheme.

Buckett-I believe the boosters paid for it, not the school. Most booster clubs handle things like that. I believe most of the coaching staff went, according to a friend of mine that coaches there, so they should still be able to run the new offense if the new coach chooses too.

Key word if the New Coach chooses too. So if the booster club paid for it isn't the schools money? Doesnt the booster club raise funds for the team using the schools name?

 

Any way I wish coach Engstrand well. I believe he was doing some good things at WHHS.

 

I wish WHHS them all the luck in finding a new coach.
