February 4, 201412 yr Why does this picture need to be shown at all? I don't know what happened, but I do know that all this picture shows is a kid appearing to shake the hand of the person above him. I am sympathetic to the families involved and understand the raw emotions that are real. However, let the school officials deal with it and let's not post something that may incorrectly indict a young man who had nothing to do with the incident. Either way (guilty or not) adults don't need to be posting pictures and/or comments about this. If anyone knows Bob Rowe, you can rest assured that it will be addressed and handled in the proper fashion. How is the picture incorrectly indicting a young man? It's a picture of the ripped poster.
February 4, 201412 yr The kids who did this should be punished but it isn't an indictment on the entire school or student body, IMO. I think the kids who did this should be forced to visit the parents, explain themselves and apologize. "But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen! "

February 4, 201412 yr The kids who did this should be punished but it isn't an indictment on the entire school or student body, IMO. I think the kids who did this should be forced to visit the parents, explain themselves and apologize. Yes. Most definitely. My understanding of the incident is this. The sign was hanging above where the CCH student section was and it was ripped down. The "teaming up" as you put it of two schools is nothing more than a sign of respect the students have for eachother. These students are from the same city and grew up together and realize that there are things more important than sports and they are showing their support for eachother. It was an unfortunate thing to have happened and what I think made it worse is the fact that after it was done by a student(s) from CCH that no one else in their student section did anything to try and rectify the situation. Yes it was one or two kids that performed the action, yet I hadn't heard that anyone from that student section tried to rectify the situation by fixing the problem and trying to hang it back up etc. which would of went a long way I think in elevating the situation. I don't look at it as schools "teaming up" against CCH as much as schools coming together to show their support for eachother. I think it's a good thing. Showing support for what? One or two CCH kids were stupid. Nobody had duct tape with them to put it back up. So this "teaming up" seems like overkill against CCH. It was an unfortunate incident and I'm sure the guilty party is already regretting his decision. In the end it is giving some young people an opportunity to stand together for a cause and that is what I think is the silver lining. Stand together for a cause or stand together against CCH. There is no right answer. Just call it what it is. :lol2: I will add that I am not a supporter of any of the three schools you mentioned. (Will likely have one at Cooper in about 3 years.) From an outside observer---it just looks like an overreaction to an unfortunate incident. And it seems like a reason for people to get on an anti CCH bandwagon. And hey--I don't like it when my team gets a CCH beat down either. :lol2:

February 4, 201412 yr Showing support for a grieving community and family over the loss of a much too young life. That is commendable. I applaud that.
February 4, 201412 yr I thought Cov Cath students were the best of the best? They are. Doesn't mean one or two of them are capable of making a stupid mistake. This isn't the first instance of a good person doing a bad thing. Moses murdered an Egyptian, David had a soldier killed so he could take his wife, and Peter denied Jesus. Even after that...they were all pretty solid dudes.
February 4, 201412 yr I suspect the only one who has the full facts in this case is Mr. Rowe. He is one of the most upstanding guys I know so I am sure he will react promptly and correctly. Speculation beyond what we know is useless.
February 4, 201412 yr That is commendable. I applaud that. I personally believe there will be some sort of public apology long before the game next Tuesday. I'm sure, and it isn't because it's Cov Cath because I feel any school involved would handle the situation accordingly, that the right thing will be done long before the game. I would not be surprised if at least a letter of apology isn't already in the works. If nothing is done before the game Tuesday, well that would be a bigger shock than the incident itself imo. I don't think the majority of students at CCH would condone the action that took place and it isn't everyone gaining up against CCH either. There are many kids at CCH who grew up side by side with many kids in union and played sports etc. with a lot of them. The Bir's come to mind and one of my fav's at CCH, the dance king himself....Pork Chop. I am of the belief that if Christian would of seen what was about to happen he would of put a stop to it. As I said earlier, I think there is a silver lining. It has got a group of young people to unite which no matter what the circumstances are, is always nice to see, especially in this day and age.
February 4, 201412 yr While I don't agree with him, the choir boy image that many CCH alum and fans try to portray is a bit much IMO.
