First Beechwood could very likely end up in 2A by enrollment. If they do not, I think they would want to move up. That would give them a nice fit in the NKY 2A district with Lloyd, Newport, HC, and NCC. They could also still play Dixie and CovCath and maybe old rival Bellevue. That is 7 of the 10 games and they could fill the schedule out with Holmes/Scott/Conner/Cooper or a downstate team.

I believe Russell did as well. Seems like they were the biggest 2A school initially but moved up due to geography.

That is correct. There are no 2A schools in the area and Russell moved up to 3A based on travel hardship.

Maybe I am wrong but I just don't see this mass movement of teams wanting to play up in class. I understand why a few will, but I don't see it being a widespread issue.

 

Same here. I dont know of a 1A team in their right mind that would want to move up to 2A. I don't see any 2A team who would want to move up to 3A, nor 3A to 4A. I could see Johnson Central wanting to move up to 5A east; and no 5A to 6 (if that's even possibly with the set 32).

I think they stay in 1A so that they can get back to winning championships on a regular basis. I don't think they want to play NCC and Mayfield to win a title.

 

That is not the headset of a team that schedules every non district opponent in a higher class. They already play NCC every year and are 2-2 in the last four meetings. I will be very surprised if Beechwood doesn't move up. They like the challenge and would like the 2A district competition better than their 1A district.

Looks like they may bump Wayne County up based on their merger with Monticello. That may knock Moore into 3A. Thomas Nelson ends up in 3A as well due to them duplicating the current year for their first two years in the sample. That knocked DeSales into 2A.

I think it would be good to allow schools to play up two classes if they choose to do so. The only schools that would consider doing it would Highlands, CovCath, and such. It would be great to see these powers in 6a football.

That's not going to happen.

If one school asks to move up to 6A, Boone Co. as the smallest school in 6A can move down to 5A. I think they will do it. But I don't see anyone who I think will ask to move up to 6A.
