When is the final say of what the new alignment going to be?

Nelson County has petitioned to play up to 5A.

 

I've heard that Conner and Cooper petitioned to play up to 6A, any truth to that? And, the only reason I can see why they wanted to do that is if Highlands petitioned to move up to to play 5A.

Here is my question/scenario(s)....

 

Let's say 3 5A teams petitioned and were granted to move up, then the three bottom teams from 6A would be given the opportunity to move down to 5A, correct?

 

If three 4A teams petitioned and were granted to move to 5A, then the bottom three 5A schools would be given the opportunity to move down to 4A, right?

 

In short...the said class below the teams petitioning to play up wouldn't be effected would they?

 

ie: 3A wouldn't be effected if there were a couple 4A teams wanting to move up to 5A, yes/no?

lol All good. My thoughts exactly.

 

Granted, one thing I will say about 6A....with how they flip flop regions, you only have to worry about being stuck with those guys once ever four years (in the same region that is, semi state and obviously the finals is a different story).

Right. Nothing that happens above you will have any effect on your class.

That isn't official, just my interpretation of the way it is written by the KHSAA.

That is not the headset of a team that schedules every non district opponent in a higher class. They already play NCC every year and are 2-2 in the last four meetings. I will be very surprised if Beechwood doesn't move up. They like the challenge and would like the 2A district competition better than their 1A district.

Agreed. Unless Highlands is trying to move to 5A, then those two found out and said "see ya, bye".

 

I totally agree. But heard that from a very reliable source who has some history with those two schools.
