Kids home all day is really cutting into my "ME" time, so workouts are hit and miss.

Did get out for a 3 mile run tonight.

Started swimming laps every day during the 15 min. adult swims when I'm at the pool with my boys.

Trying to bench again.

I am sure I mentioned this , back when I was 47 I hurt my shoulder doing 375(My best ever) since then I have not bench much at all. Took 2 years off, for the most part from flat bench(Plus while doing the P90X the first two times I did it, their was no benching in it0. Each time in the past the pain would come back. I worked my way back to 319 at age 49, but had to stop benching for the most part because of the pain. I think it was a few months back I tried to bench again and only got back to 245 but stopped again because of the pain in my shoulder.

Well this week I have benched twice and though I can only go 225 there has been zero pain. I will attempt it again on Saturday.

2 1/2 months in, and things are still going well. Down almost 30lbs, and back into 34 waist pants ( was wearing mostly 38). Wrapping up a 4 week cycle of German Volume Training (10 sets of 10 at 60% of your 1 rep max on major compound movements). Going to switch programs, not sure to what. Also walking/running (mostly walking) about 12 miles a week in addition to cardio at the gym. Still about 15lbs to go to get to my old playing weight of 195.

I wouldn't push it.

I took your advice and decided to hit it again on Monday.

Have you had your shoulder looked at. Here's a guess, arthritis, bursitis, minor rotator tear, bone spurs. All of which, lifting heavy will continue to cause you pain. All based on age brother.

Bench pressing is one of the worst things for shoulder health. Might want to stick to DB Benching with a neutral grip or pressing with a Swiss Bar if you can find one.

I'm down 26 lbs since June 2nd. I've been trying to stay under 1800 calories a day, and have been walking/running for an hour 3-5 days a week. I'm still at 306 lbs, but only 7 more to get under 300, and 86 more to reach my goal weight of 220 lbs.

^Awesome job, LRCW!!!

Pretty apropos that this thread got pulled back up. Just signed up to volunteer for this year's Ironman Chattanooga so that I can register for the race in 2015!

I'm heading to Madison, WI in September and may be doing the same. Just can't get away from it.

A good friend of mine is doing WI this year.

Come to Chattanooga. An ENTIRE swim with the current at your back, easy rolling bike, potentially not fun run. :)

Forced workout. :)

My son has soccer practice from 5:30-6:30 am. I'm all set to leave the house at 4:40 and go running at the park across the street from practice.

Looking forward to it! :thumb:

I benched 300 lbs for the first time ever today. Been a goal for a long, long time
