2014 CrossFit Games start this morning. Actually the master's divisions started yesterday but the team and individual events get underway today.

First event is for time:

Swim 250 yards

50 kettlebell thrusters (35lb / 24/lb)

30 burpees

Swim 500 yards

30 burpees

50 kettlebell thrusters

Swim 250 yards

Believe it is going on as I type.

I have some sort of shoulder/neck injury/muscle pull that has derailed me a bit. I'm still running 2-3 times a week but I have stopped lifting completely. Not sure if I overworked myself or if it is something serious. I'm going to wait it out a week or two and see. At one point it hurt to lift my arm straight above my head but it seems to be getting better. I tried to do pushups last night and stopped on the 2nd one because it was hurting again. Frustrating.

You should try a chiropractor HT.

Weighed in this morning at 204. Down 39 lbs since April 14th, back into 33 waist pants (was barely in 38's). Since football started last week (I coach), my activity level has gone up and I've dropped almost 10lbs in the last week alone. It feels good to be able to be athletic again after basically 2 years of doing nothing. Looking to drop another 15-20lbs, which should happen in 8-10 weeks if all continues to go well.

It seems to be more of a shoulder problem than anything. Sometimes it bothers my neck so I'm not sure if they could really help?

I was real skeptical of Chiros. But I've been seeing one for the last 15 months. I was having just stiffness and weird sensations in my upper back that nothing could fix. Since I started going, I've had no issues, and to boot, I haven't gotten sick, I've slept better, and generally am just healthier. I don't know if it's all related to my chiro, but if you haven't given a chiro a shot, it's certainly worth trying. You have to give it a little time...it took about 6-8 weeks for me to start experiencing results

That is awesome. Keep up the good work.

Still trying to get in to a routine since I've moved. Would love to swim and bike more than have but it just has not worked out. I ran 8 last Thursday, 8 on Saturday, and 9 last night.

That is awesome. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I've yo-yo'd from being really fit for a few years, to being unfit for a few years my entire life. 6 years ago I was in the best shape of my life, only to change jobs, suffer a few injuries and by 2012 I started the slow downward spiral. After a brief attempt last year, I fell even further downhill, hitting 243 lbs by April of 2014. After a doctors visit and having really high BP and much higher sugar levels, I forced myself to get back in the gym. It really hasn't been that hard, and even though I'm approaching my mid 40's (44), it's been pretty easy to gain muscle. Hopefully, I can keep it going.

The 2014 CrossFit games finished up last night. The final 2 events were broadcast live on ESPN2.

Rich Froning Jr. wins his 4th CrossFit title in a row. This was his last year to compete as an individual and will go team starting next year. Rookie Matt Fraser takes second and 2008 champion Jason Khalipa finished 3rd.

Camile LeBlanc-Bazinet wins her first title. Was happy to see her win it as she is one of my favorites. 2011 & 2012 champion Annie Thorisdottir took 2nd and Julie Foucher finished in 3rd.

Overall it was one of the best years as far as the events they had.

I've been hitting the trails with my daughter at least every other day, running about 3-4 miles. I work about 3 days a week, where I'm on my feet all day, walking about 3 miles each day. So I'm feeling pretty good about the cardio right now.

I need about a 20 minute hand weight workout using 5lb or 8lb weights, or even a kettle ball. Any suggestions? Is there a DVD or something I could get? Thanks!

Legs are so freaking sore today. Did front squat workout on Monday. Hit a new PR at 235 then did 5reps at 70% on the minute every minute for 5 minutes. The work out yesterday had 200 air squats in it. Needless to say I'm hurting.

Do you have kettlebells? If so I can get you some good workouts with those using swings, presses, snatches, thrusters, ect...

Those are the things with the handles, right? 5, 10 and 15 pound ones. Plus the 5 and 8 pound hand weights.

Not trying to get big, like you dudes.:lol2: Want to tone the arms and shoulders.

Yes, those.

Go go to this site and pick kettlebell. It will give you a daily workout. You can scale the weight and reps as needed. If you have any questions about the movements let me know.
