January 31, 201412 yr It's just a different lifestyle. A lot of those folks are affluent individuals that like to compete. Also a lot of them don't drink alcohol and eat moderately healthy so they're not spending their money on those things but rather on a gym instead. If people didn't get a lot out of it they definitely wouldn't pay those prices. #1 rule about living the Crossfit lifestyle: You can never stop talking about Crossfit. #1b rule about living the Crossfit lifestyle: Even if you've talked about it for months and none of your friends have decided to pay the money to join, you can still not stop talking about Crossfit. I'm to the point that I just don't want to do it because I'm so tired of hearing about it haha! Don't tell our mutual friend.
January 31, 201412 yr Did it this morning. 1000 in 16:39 for a 1:40/100 pace. A lot better job pacing that one and 45 second improvement. That's really good, former. My pace always ends up being around 1:55-2:00/100 when doing any type of distance. I have done a few 1650s before in the pool and I am always right at 32:00-33:00 minutes.
January 31, 201412 yr A guy I worked with was a certified trainer and told all of at work that he felt anyone who paid for a trainer was not real smart. He use to tell us how it was the easiest 40 bucks an hour he ever earned. I would never pay for one, but would never disrespect those who do. 99% of the population has no clue how to program nor do they have any interest in learning. How many people go to their gym everyday with no real plan. Ask anyone at your gym what they are doing and you will get answers like back, or chest, or legs, ect... Now ask them what their actual work out is. Most just throw weights on a bar and start pumping. Their is zero methodology to the lifts they do or the weights they use. I would agree with your buddy that anyone that paid him $40 as a trainer isn't real smart because he obviously hasn't a clue on what a good trainer does.

February 4, 201412 yr Did my self-created leg shredder 60-30-30 workout before the Superbowl yesterday. 60 minutes on the treadmill (8 miles), followed by 30 minutes on the spin bike, and 30 minutes (or 3 miles with a cool down) on the treadmill. Ended up covering 11 miles total on the treadmill in 82:30.
