February 16, 201412 yr Max cardio conditioning and cardio abs with my UK girl. Great workout and fun, too!
February 16, 201412 yr Week two has started with the new cardio program we are doing. As with last time, I have not been missing the gym nor have I been over in my calorie intake, but the wight continues to go up. I know this because there are several pair of pants I was wearing that I can no longer fit into. This stinks. I am ready to hit the fast food places all week and say this is not worth all of the effort, but I know I am hard headed enough to keep fighting the fight. Have you read any of our advice about not starving yourself? Eventually, if you keep up what you're doing, you may lose some weight, but it could be at the expense of some muscle.
February 16, 201412 yr Author I am no where near close to starving myself.Every day but one I was well within my guidelines according to the site. The only time this year I was under enough to get the warning from the site, was the time I posted on here. Since then I have average a little over 1600 calories a day. I talked to a trainer and he said that was plenty.

I talked to a trainer and he said that was plenty. I'm sorry, but I have to question his guidance if he believes 1600 calories is plenty for someone, especially a male, working out as much as 2 hours a day. 1600 would be on the low end for someone with no activity.
February 17, 201412 yr I did a slow 17 mile jog this afternoon. Ran with the wife and our trainer. Hadn't really had a long day since my Ironman so it was refreshing.

Completely agree. Now I see why his trainer friend thinks it's a waste for anyone to pay for a trainer if this is the type of advise he's giving out.
February 17, 201412 yr Took off last week. Started a new cycle of Wendler 5/3/1 this morning. Today was squat day with sets of 5@155, 5@175 , 5@200.
February 17, 201412 yr Did 5 squats at 205 last week. I've never really tried to go to heavy and was curious if I could. Not really sure how high I could go.

It wasn't. I have now asked two different trainers from two different gyms and they both said my calorie intake is just fine, based on my age and the exercise I am doing.

I know 120 pound women who take in more then that and are ripped.
February 18, 201412 yr Ran 5 miles downtown Denver in the high 60's. They have trails along the river where you do not have to cross a street. Was GREAT!
February 18, 201412 yr How hard was the last rep and how deep did you get on them. They were pretty deep. It was pretty tough. Maybe had one or two left before I'd need help.
February 18, 201412 yr They were pretty deep. It was pretty tough. Maybe had one or two left before I'd need help. If you could get 6 or 7 parallel or lower at 205 you could probably get 250 - 260, maybe a little more. That's really good for someone that trains the way you do and has never really squatted heavy.
February 18, 201412 yr Had to max out on bench, pushup and sit ups today. Got 270 on bench which wasn't great but I think that'll go up a bit since I will finally for the first time in nearly 10 years have someone there to spot me for the next few months. I managed 59 push-ups which I know I can also increase quite a bit. Sit ups were a bit of a let down as I only got 41 in a minutes time. Will test again in about 8 weeks.
