Did strict press this morning. 5/5/5+ week

5 @ 100

5 @ 115

5+ @ 130 - Failed after 3 reps. Really feeling the week off.

Follow up with 3 sets of 15 at 65lbs. Also 3 sets of 5 strict pull ups.

If you could get 6 or 7 parallel or lower at 205 you could probably get 250 - 260, maybe a little more. That's really good for someone that trains the way you do and has never really squatted heavy.
Hmm, if I get the chance I may have to give it a try next time we squat. However, my strength training is going to drop to once weekly next week to prepare for tri season.

Did a half Murphy today with the sinus infection still in full effect. That sucked.

It would suck if you were 100%. We do Murphy every year on Memorial Day and it sucks everytime.

I may have estimated a little high but it's hard to really tell without going to failure. 6 reps at 205 puts your estimated 1rm at 238, 7 jumps it to 246. If you could get 8 it puts you at 255. Again these are estimates and really the only way to tell for sure is to do it. That said for me these estimates run org try close to correct for squats, for something like bench it's not really close.

Nice...I did 4 sets of 5 prior to that with weights ranging from 135 - 185 so I had some fatigue to begin with.

What I typically do if I know I'm going to go heavy, maybe try for a 1RM, Ill do a warm of 8 or 10 reps at 95. I'll then jump to 135 for 5 then maybe 175 for 5. All you want to do is make sure you're good and warm and loose without fatiguing yourself. You can then jump to your starting weight for your work sets.

Apparently I will be getting to do it a lot over the next few months. Probably once a week or so.

Also doing that on Memorial Day is a very nice gesture, makes you want to go that much harder when you think about it.

Took a few days off from the gym and didn't eat very well either. Could certainly tell a difference.

Back at it yesterday and plan on keeping with it again. Still very happy about my progress since Jan. 2nd.

If you really want torture throw a weight vest on and do it.

Cardio power and resistance. I love that workout!

Yes it was, but mine was for 5 miles. Make me really looking forward to spring.

I think we may just do that in a couple of months, perhaps late May.

Swivel push up bars various style push ups and tricep dips.

What do you think?

Suppose to reduce strain on elbow, wrist and shoulder joints.

Anybody try them?
