January 9, 201412 yr Remember Pitino was a Wildcat first. Are you really naive enough to believe once he put on the red suit his morality and character changed? Please, get real. I don't think they've became a laughing stock. UK hired a drunk, but everyone thought it BCG was a good hire at the time. UL hired a guy who cheated on his wife, and leaves programs prematurely, so be it. He wins and unfortunately, that is all that matters. If good guys were allowed to keep their jobs (as touched on earlier in this thread) then Tubby and Joker would still be at UK! At least UL is good at hiring people that leave things prematurely. And all of Pitinos stupid stuff happened at UL. Very high moral standards there
January 9, 201412 yr At least UL is good at hiring people that leave things prematurely. Rick would agree with this statement if that is meant to encompass sex at Italian restaurants.
January 9, 201412 yr You don't need a story for that. UL needs the surest bet in going to a big boy league. They can't make the wrong hire and fall to the bottom of the ACC and out of the national spotlight. Petrino gives the best shot of that. I somewhat agree I am just interested in what he actually has to say about it. We've read multiple columns about it and seen social media talk about it. I want to hear what his words and thoughts are. I want to see him say, yeah, we took the best coach available. It is what it is or whatever. I think that would be awesome.
January 9, 201412 yr Don't try to deflect attention now that your program has become a national laughing stock today Is that why UK fans talk so much about their basketball program?
January 9, 201412 yr At least UL is good at hiring people that leave things prematurely. And all of Pitinos stupid stuff happened at UL. Very high moral standards there Moral standards are overrated.
January 9, 201412 yr Again why does Petrino get the blame? He had very little issues when he was the coach. Kragthorpe is the one who had no discipline. As mentioned earlier, you cant be laid back in college football. I think at the time Jurich was deflecting the pressure on Krags to blame petrino. Petrino also left Krags with 19 starters off a Orange bowl team. Remember Pitino was a Wildcat first. Wouldn't UK qualify for this? After Hal Dumme the UK coaches were pretty good guys to the best of my knowledge but I believe all four have losing records at UK. Just so you guys know, these posts will be ignored by the Big Blue contingent.
January 9, 201412 yr Remember Pitino was a Wildcat first. Are you really naive enough to believe once he put on the red suit his morality and character changed? Please, get real. Rick may have been a womanizer at UK also, just at UK, he was able to keep his sleaziness out of the public eye better. Edited January 9, 201412 yr by Bert

January 9, 201412 yr For everybody saying "Winning is all that matters..." Would you get rid of your successful coach right now if you could guarantee you had a coach with a perfect moral compass and zero chance to mess up, but that person would go .500 or below? Anybody?
January 9, 201412 yr "Bobby has convinced me he's a changed man" - Tom Jurich How he managed to say that with a straight face is beyond me. Hope it's true, but I don't buy it.
January 9, 201412 yr "Bobby has convinced me he's a changed man" - Tom Jurich How he managed to say that with a straight face is beyond me. Hope it's true, but I don't buy it. Fortunately, it's not your place to "buy it." And I say that with as much respect as possible. You know we're cool...
January 9, 201412 yr Anybody? We all know the answer to that. No school cares about their coach's morals as long as the team is winning.
January 9, 201412 yr Fortunately, it's not your place to "buy it." And I say that with as much respect as possible. You know we're cool... Winning is all that matters and rightfully so.
January 9, 201412 yr Pre official announce article AP source: Bobby Petrino accepts Louisville offer | College Football | Kentucky.com Interesting tid-bit at end: "Petrino's WKU contract includes clauses in which the oft-traveled coach must repay the school $1.2 million in six installments beginning a month after he leaves, while the program that hires him must agree to schedule a two-year, home-and-home series with WKU." So WKU gets to replace the UK series with UL...interesting. Its almost as if they knew.........nahhh....
