Petrino is back at Louisville

Featured Replies

A $10M buyout is going to keep him there for at least four years.

And nothing's guaranteed. He could come in here, be terrible and all that $10 million is good for is making sure we're stuck with him.

I thought that but decided to keep it positive.

Which number is greater?

1. The number of UL fans who don't like the Petrino hire?

OR

2. The number of UK fans who didn't like the Calipari hire?

But you pose a good question.. I'd say UL fans with Petrino. Maybe.

Without question, the UK fans IMO. The % is most likely higher with the UofL fans against Petrino, but UK basketball has a ton more fans than UofL football. Not a shot at UofL, just a reality IMO.

I think from a percentage standpoint the answers would around:

1. 33-50%

2. 25-33%

After Billy Clyde the UK base seemed to more willing to accept Calipari. There was some grumbling/concern but it was more concern than not wanting the hire at all.

UL athletic dept. = moral cess pool they are going to have a lot of tickets available. If you believe he is a changed man or Jurich made a great hire then you believe Chane Behanen's championship ring was "stolen form his home" and put on ebay!

Then how do you rate the athletic department of a religiously affiliated school that more or less forced out a legend of high school football who was also considered a role model who always did things the "right" way. Because anyone who would be affiliated with a school like that would most certainly been in a moral checkmark here. Unless of course they don't mind being blatant hypocrites.

1. Maybe 25%

2. 18%

:D

OR The number of UK fans that didn't want Calipari when Tubby was fired...

Tubby wasn't fired. Resigned and took the Minnesota job on his own. I do believe he was fired from Minnesota though.

More like he took the Minnesota job before Kentucky had the chance to fire him. He wasn't coaching Kentucky again, even if he wanted to.

Obviously winning is job #1 for any (major) college coach. The implication that you can't have SOME level of moral standard and ALSO a coach that wins is laughable.

Has a coach ever left with years remaining on is contract only to return before the ORIGINAL contract would have expired?

Well, I frankly am not sure why comparisons are being made about UK fans / Calapari - UK fana / Petrino - UL fans / Petrino or whatever else comparisons were mentioned and or ask about. What I am sure about is that I don't really care who they hire or what they do in Louisville.

Just for fun - that same " happy or not happy with UL hiring Petrino compared to the number of BGP - Ohio State football haters / bashers ??? :lol2:
