January 2, 201412 yr "Gave" daughter a tattoo on 16th birthday. Son born ten years earlier never expressed an interest. Neither to my knowledge has ever smoked or wanted to smoke. They are both over 21 now. But I did often tell them, "Do as I say, not as I did".
January 2, 201412 yr My daughter has 4 tattoos, my son has 1. My daughter has smoked, my son hasn't. All occurred after they were 18.
January 2, 201412 yr Daddy's little girl wants a tattoo, she's a senior in HS and Daddy said, " I'll give you a tattoo" if you know what I mean. Not going to happen while she's living under my roof. smoking is not an issue she doesnt like it.
January 2, 201412 yr My daughter is 8, so it's not an issue. If/when the tattoo thing does becomes an issue, I'll take the Lawnboy approach--"Not under my roof." Once she's out on her own...well, she's out on her own. :lol2: But even then, I'll probably try to bribe her to keep her from getting one. Some people like tattoos & that's fine. They just aren't my thing at all.

They just aren't my thing at all. Not my thing at all, but all of the cousins of my kids have the family initial tattooed somewhere on their bodies. EVERY one of them. So, in that instance, I guess it's a "familia" thing. My daughter has 3 others that are small, but visible. My son's is on his bicep, so you actually never see it.

January 3, 201412 yr I'm not a fan and neither of my boys have shown an interest in tattoos. I told them if they wanted a piercing, that'd be fine, as long as I was the piercer.

January 3, 201412 yr My ex-wife has several of them...I'll allow her to handle this department when the time comes.
January 3, 201412 yr Ask them if they plan on wearing the same style shoes or same shirt the rest of their lives. They will probably answer no. Things go out of style. Tattoos are forever. Not a fan. As for smoking, I would think they would be educated enough now of the dangers. When I grew up, the dangers were just coming to surface. I'm shocked any kid would want to smoke unless it was to tick off their folks as their form of rebellion. Call me old fashioned, but not under my roof either.

My senior year at Newcath ('84) I wanted a my ear pierced. However, since I was dating the principals daughter it wasn't going to happen, you don't want to get on Carl Foster's bad side. :no:
