The everyone else group enjoys watching good football on Friday nights in their community but when you ask them to drive to Bowling Green, they look at you like you have two heads. I know, I've asked several peeps that usually go to the games with me and they all bail out when it comes to the drive and their excuse is always the same.

Whackem - If the Boosters would have arranged for a fan bus (or 2,3,4), would you and your peeps then have made the trip to support the team?

 

BTW, since FTIS does not have a fleet of school buses this would be charters and the price is never going to be as low as $20 as was mentioned in a previous thread.

I have a 9am basketball game Saturday, so I am probably out regardless.

I would consider it, but I cannot speak for the "everybody else" crowd.

It's not a lack of enthusiasm. I'm just saying it's tough to drive several hours to watch a potential running clock in the second quarter. They shouldn't even have a running clock rule for a State Title game in the first place.

I agree wholeheartedly. Several people I've spoken to recently have said the distance is the deal-breaker in deciding whether or not to watch it on the Internet. Reading the admonitions from all these folks who travel in luxury RV's makes me cringe. If you die-hard tailgaters want to load up your rolling mansions and watch your big screens while enjoying a wine and cheese party, well then more power to ya. For the rest of us down here in the huddled masses, the trip is a drudge. :sorry:

Not at all, sounds like they are vastly improved over last year and even since the start of the year and have a fair number of three year starters. With Highlands letting their foot off the opponent's neck last week it all points to a competitive game.

I don't understand the fuss; WKU has a great facility to host the tournament for all six classes. It is one weekend a year! This is one 'Birds fan that books a hotel as soon as the weekend is officially announced. Once again I get a bonus this year since New Cath plays right before the 'Birds. A running clock against Collins this year seems highly unlikely. Time to focus 'Birds and bring home #23! (How many does SK have?)

I called the bus company, ordered a few busses and hoped that I could get enough people to fill them. I had enough parents , and casual fans to fill 2 and sometimes three busses to many away games. I would have people calling me that couldn't drive or didn't want to drive or were just by themselves and didn't want to go alone. I met a bunch of great people in the community that were not Highlands football parents and just wanted to follow the team. From then on, if they didn't call me , I called them to make sure they could get a seat if they wanted it. It was great fun and I met a ton of people. Nothing made me happier than someone getting on the bus that would not have made it to the game otherwise. Yes, financially it didn't always workout , but I just saved somewhere else. "Ok , Leatherneck didn't get a Christmas gift that year".

If a luxury RV is a 52 passenger bus with some great people that pack a tailgate for you to enjoy just so you have a ride to the game , then that is great. :ylsuper:

Now we both know that's not what I'm talking about. I think some of us just get tired of being called out and made to feel lesser because it isn't such an easy proposition for us to get to games like this. And those from whom it is most tiresome are the aforementioned mansion-mobile crowd. And you know who you are...:wave:
