The few minutes Lee did play he was out of position multiple times that led to easy layups....Johnson may be slow and can't really jump, but he's big and physical and was able to pull down 5 boards in very limited action. He's clearly the better option.

Lee only played 1 minute and I believe maybe only 2 defensive possessions. On one, he went after and got the defensive rebound, and on the other, he was slow to rotate after one of the guards got beat on the dribble. i like the energy he plays with though.

Basically two possessions, pulled the board on one trip and then was late on the help D the next.

39-1

HaHa!!

Calipari's teams have always struggled with the FT.

Calipari has made it no secret, shooting free throws in practice is not one if his priorities. With the way games are being called, it better be.

He'd better be making it a priority. He needs to look no farther than his Memphis team's 2008 loss in the national championship game to see why. They blew a 9 point lead with a little over 2 minutes left in regulation mainly by not being able to hit free throws. And there's a possibility that they the Cats don't defeat Indiana in the 2012 Sweet 16 without shooting lights out from the foul line. It's difficult to win the national championship unless your team can consistently make free throws.

My guess is UK practices FTs at the same rate as 95% of the other teams.

So he only made it a priority before the Indiana game. Do you really think he was any different in 2008, 2012, and now?

For the record UK's free throw percentages under Cal

2010 67%

2011 71%

2012 72.3%

2013 64.2%

If they would have shot their free throws at any of the above percentages on Tuesday night they would have had the lead with 30 seconds remaining.

I guess he placed a priority on free throw shooting in 11 & 12 but not last year or so far this year. He must be an idiot, fire him now.

One other thing, I told my son that this game reminded me of UK's loss in 1995 to UMass. Behind big early, made a huge comeback only to come up short. Remember how that turned out?

I bet Coach Cal does.

Ironically, Calipari won that one.

The '12 team was streaky at the free throw line but they had it hot in the Indiana game. Not saying this team will not improve on Tuesday's night performance, but to say a coach shouldn't emphasize free throw form and technique....and accuracy, is just wrong. Asking them to do it do their own is about the same as asking the players to run sprints on their own to stay in shape. Ain't gonna happen.
