Report: Anonymous exec says Brandon Phillips is ‘gone’

Featured Replies

I would take Brandon Phillips on the Braves any day, bad contract and all.

He's a solid hitter, speed, and great defensively.

Speed? This ain't 2009...

Still more speed than most any current Braves possess so that'll still work..:lol2:

Guys, guys, guys...hold on. I think there's only one way for this argument to be settled.

And that's to have your avatars mud wrestle for it. :lol2:

Deal...

I can't concentrate on all these stats. It's nothing but D cups on this page.

I don't think trading BP has much to do with the stats. More about his attitude and ripping the owner, who just paid you $70M, in the media.

It is all about salary and attitude. Even UKMF would admit that the only way that the Reds improve at 2nd base is if they trade for Pedroia or sign Cano. Barring that they can only hope to save enough money to improve somewhere else.

It must be awful to sit at a game, or in front of the TV and have no idea what you're watching. Only to be able to analyze it at season's end when the data rolls in. I feel sorry for those that can't. Truly.

Who the hell said that? Sure as hell wasn't me. You can keep up with the ignorant jabs all you want, I have no desire to debate anything with someone who resorts to those tactics. You're a great representation of this site Spin. :thumb:

I don't think anyone would debate that but sometimes addition by subtraction makes a world of a difference, especially in the clubhouse.

Is there any proof besides the one comment Phillips made about Votto's contract that shows he was disliked or created issue's in the clubhouse?

There was some article a few weeks back that quoted someone in the clubhouse saying you could never tell by the way Phillips acted if the Reds had won or lost, but you could always tell whether he went 0-4 or had a good game. I seem to recall it going into more details as well.

I like BP but I have no problem with them dealing him. He made his own bed there. You could insert any good contact hitter into his spot in the line up and put up the numbers on Offense he did this year as long as there's 2 guys in front of him with .400+ OBP. On Defense? Different story. I still wish they would of held onto Yonder Alonso and dealt Votto when his stock was so high after NL MVP. Stock pitching at minors and sign pitchers you have. Now they are stuck with a ridiculous contract with Votto, trying to figure how to sign everyone else. JMO

Hal McCoy article.

“You can’t tell by Brandon’s face whether we won or lost, but you can tell if he went 0 for 4 or 2 for 4 no matter if we won or lost.”

BP will be traded because of his age and contract. He's productivity is on the down and the money owed is going up. They can still trade him because hes still very good.

There's no point in arguing with you. You'd die before you ever admitted that statistics have a place in measuring baseball performance, and would rather resort to personal jabs than have a real debate on the topic.

Stats go for every sport, maybe more for baseball than any other, and it does matter a lot
