Quite a feet, or foot. lol

But, I have to say it doesn't seem the same as a player kicking a FG after a snap, hold, and rush. No sour grapes, I'm truly glad for the kid. But, when Aaron Pettrey broke the record he was splitting uprights on kickoff. He did it several times. That is 70 yards.

I really don't want to take anything away from the kid. This is a great accomplishment and I congratulate him. I do believe there are a few high school kickers under this scenario, on a tee, no snap, hold or rush to concern themselves, could do this. Good luck to this kid as it seems he has a great furtue in this arena. Still most high schools kickers cannot kick it 60 yards.

Congratulations to the young man and good job by Coach Matney setting it up for him. Now that he has the official record, I am looking forward to him resetting it with a "real" field goal attempt.

Honestly, and I am not trying to take anything away from the accomplishment, I have seen multiple kickers every season for the past few years who could kick the ball between the uprights as a free kick like that. Any kicker who puts a kickoff into the end zone in the air is kicking the ball 60 yards. How many kickers this weekend put kickoffs into the end zone in the air? I have seen several kickers in the past few seasons put kickoffs out the back of the end zone in the air.

Congrats to the kid, I am not taking anything away from him.

But its a kickoff through the Up rights.

I am with you Coach. Not that I want to put ideas into Matney's head, but if he wants the kid to keep that record, he needs to move it back at least 5 more yards. Now that others have seen this, that record is under threat every weekend if another coach with a good kicker is inclined to do this and gets the opportunity (fair catch of punt) to do the same thing. My guess is there are at least a half dozen kids in the state who could do this - kick it through the uprights off a tee from 60 yards.

While this might be true, the fact of the matter is, it's never been done until last night. Like I said before, it takes a real unique series of events for this to even be attempted. A lot of things have to come together perfectly at the right time to even try it. If it were so easy/commonplace, it would happen a lot more often in the NFL or college, where kickers legs are stronger and even more accurate. And while a few kids across the state could probably physically do this, to be able to do it under game conditions, for a state record, with everyone watching, is probably easier said than done.

If I understand correctly this can only be done after a fair catch on a punt? If that is the case then no it wouldn't be more if a commonplace. Unless your obsessed with some stupid record then why would you fair catch a ball just to try and kick a FG, unless that was all time would allow and you need it the points to tie or win.
