oldonetechnique
Did Matney himself kick the Field goal?? Maybe he can get his name in the record book and we can be done with this FG chase.

tcjkbt
On a free kick, the kicker gets an ucontested run-up to the ball, doesn't he? Can it be placed on a tee?

In the NFL, no, it's with a holder. Would imagine that high school is no different.

I just saw a team attempt a 70 yarder like this at the end of the half, and in that case, the other team tried returning the failed kick. But if they had just let the ball go out of the end zone, and there was still time left, would the other team then still get the ball from where the kick was attempted?? I would think the answer would be yes.

Clyde
Basically it's a kickoff? For the most part...other than you can get 3 points. Ball is live so it could be returned.
