Braves Are Tired of Being Shown Up After Homeruns

Featured Replies

Bad blood or not this is being way overblown.

Gomez hit a solo home run in the first inning and he acts like he just hit a moon shot to win a game. Calm down guy.

I think it's hilarious.

After watching that video, I have even less of an issue with Gomez's reaction.

But do you understand now why I think hitting him the next AB might have been as bad or worse?

I'm not saying the Braves as a whole didn't overreact but I have no problem with Freeman saying something to him because that happens all the time when players round bases.

McCann was obviously upset over something but who knows exactly what it was (the home run trot, something said, etc.) I think it looks poorly that he walked up the basepath to say something but in the end I don't think that makes McCann fake, a baby, etc. as some have stated.

For Maholm? Yeah, Gomez would've beat his skull in with the bat.

That makes Maholm look terrible. Gomez has owned him his whole career and Maholm has intentionally thrown at him previously, so I understand why Gomez wanted to hit one to the moon.

To sum up my feelings:

The next time a guy does this to the Braves, they do need to act like it's nothing, because if they continue to get so upset, then it will be done just to get in their heads.

The only thing I thought was justified was McCann's reaction at the end. Not his reaction at the beginning. Next time he should get in his face after he touches the plate rather than stand in the basepath.

Yep. Maholm is bitter because he can't get the guy out, so he has decided to throw at him on more than one occasion. Sucks to suck.

The truth comes out. He OWNS Maholm. "Even his outs are bullets!!!!!"

Why not celebrate a HR in the first inning? TD's are celebrated in the first quarter...Sacks are celebrated, even by guys losing the game by 21 points...players celebrate monster dunks in the first quarter.

BASEBALL takes itself WAY TOO SERIOUS!!!

Excellent points.

Standing in the basepath is "sticking up for each other?" No. Getting hits to beat the offending team is "sticking up for each other". Otherwise' date=' you're just a loser.[/quote']

The Braves have the best record in the NL. If they're losers what's that make everyone else?

Cards have the best record after last night I believe.

No the Cards do! Makes Braves First Loser :lol2:

His "making a scene" was "admiring" the home run... Who does that really hurt? What's more dangerous... Throwing at a guys knee' date=' or admiring a home run?[/quote']

Many people suggest the correct retaliation would have been to hit him with a pitch. Sounds like you disagree with that?

Not looking for any. Just stating facts.

Opinions and predictions are facts now?

He didn't even stand and admire it really. McCann needs thicker skin. He comes off as a huge crybaby and a fake tough guy.

How does he come off as a "fake tough guy"?

Or does he come off that way because of your obvious hatred of the Braves?
