September 26, 201312 yr Watch Johnson. He comes flying in and pushes Gomez around his face then gets next to Terry Pendleton. He then grabs Pendleton to guide him in front if him' date=' like he is trying to hold himself back.[/quote'] I watched it and don't know how you are so sure that's what he was doing.

September 26, 201312 yr I watched it and don't know how you are so sure that's what he was doing. 3:30 mark. He is LITERALLY pulling Pendleton in front of him. He could have EASILY gotten around him. Fraud.
September 26, 201312 yr Braves need to put their big girl panties on and get over it...I've seen much more posturing after home runs than that without the team in the field acting like that. This is all on the Braves IMO ALL on the Braves? That I don't agree with. But I do think they need to stop making as big a deal every time it happens. I think people would cut them more slack on this one if it hadn't already happened a few times this year. The reason I think some response was justified is because of how far Gomez took it. I can't recall seeing a player talk trash to the pitcher the entire time he rounded the bases. Apparently he and Maholm have some history and he was going to make a big deal whether the Braves did anything or not. Surely you can agree Gomez was a bit extreme? This isn't like Harper who didn't even pose as long as Upton (Braves were real hypocritical on that one). Gomez went out of his way here.

Everyone's pushing and shoving how the heck do you know who's pulling or getting pushed? I'm not necessarily a Reed Johnson fan and it's certainly possible that's what is happening. I'm just not sure how one can be so certain.
September 26, 201312 yr I'd take a guy like McCann on my team EVERY DAY! EVERY DAY!!! Like Freeman more too, but love how McCann handled it.
September 26, 201312 yr I watched it again. I see what you all are saying I guess I'm just not as certain that's what is happening. Everyone is pushing everyone and Pendleton is getting pushed back as well. I'll leave it at that. If he was pulling Pendleton in front of him that's weak stuff.

It looked more like he was using Pendleton as a shield.
September 26, 201312 yr McCann is a great player, but this is the 2nd time in two weeks he challenged a guy that hit a HR and admired it. Get over it, he looks just as bad IMO. This was the first inning, he will come up again. Drill him in the ribs/back next time. That's how most handle it.

You don't let a kid show up your team like that. Especially since that team is not close to making the playoffs. If Gomez gets to send a message, then I think McCann standing there sends one right back.

I don't think he cares about the homerun, he cares about the guy jawing at his pitcher the entire way around the bases. He did what a catcher is supposed to do.
September 26, 201312 yr While I don't agree with Reed Johnson's actions on the situation I completely agree with Freeman and McCann. Gomez had no reason to act that way after a home run and if he did want to act that way then he should expect the other team to jaw back at him I see nothing wrong with the incident other then Johnson.

I don't think he cares about the homerun, he cares about the guy jawing at his pitcher the entire way around the bases. He did what a catcher is supposed to do. I don't see any other catchers doing this (maybe happened, but I haven't seen it). I have never seen one stand 1/4 of the way down the line and block the path of the runner. I have seen many catchers mouth off and fire back at them verbally. I have seen many teams take care of it by plunking someone. I think he's a hot head, just like Gomez. This takes you out of your game. They scored 0 runs in the game. Doesn't mean McCann a vad player, in fact he is great IMO.
