Trinity's Helmet Logo

Featured Replies

My son still has his helmet decal. He hasn't played in....what...9 or 10 years? He had it on his car window until he got a new car, and very carefully removed it and has taken great pains to preserve it. It obviously means a great deal to him as a former player.

My son still has his.

I remember when I was in college that there were often numerous cars in the parking lot that had the stickers. I stopped a couple of times to look closer at them. They were always neat to look at.

I absolutely LOVE our helmet decal...

I had never seen the emblem up close before. Great to learn about the emblems history and different aspects. Great tradition.

Tony's was on his throughout college. He didn't get a new car until he'd graduated the Master's program and gotten a new job. So, I guess he's just been without for a couple of years.

I think what you saw says a lot about what that logo means to the kids who've played for Trinity. Not to say it's only Trinity. I would assume it's similar for other programs as well. Maybe it's just me being attuned to it, but I can say I see that decal a lot, and I know immediately the car is affiliated with a player or former player. I don't notice other decals nearly as often. I do see a lot of Male, Manual and expecially X stickers, but they're stickers like the power T that most of us Trinity supporters sport, or have sported.

I like what the logo stands for and represents but I am not big on the design. The T looks like a mushroom and I couldn't see the shamrock. No clue where the hand is.

I see the T (which does look like a mushroom......it was conceived in the 60's), I see the shamrock, but for the life of me I cannot make out a hand either. I think it needs a little tweaking but then we're messing with a symbol of tradition and that's another kettle of fish.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :D It seems to be working for us.

There ain't no one going to photoshop that logo, believe me.

Oh, I agree. I just cannot make out a hand in the design. I myself might tweak it a touch but like I posted, it's a symbol of the tradition which is Trinity football.

I have no issue with the logo. I'm am very much a logo guy. Many company logos don't really look like anything. After all, I bet a bunch of people said what the hell is that when they first viewed the Nike Swoosh. I love the story to go with the logo. Little busy for a Helmet logo IMO, but tradition is more important than anything else.

Whatever that mess is in the middle, it isn't good. If you can't look at a logo and know what you are looking at ... fail. Heck, I didn't even know that was a "T" until I read Watusi's description. Although, on the other hand, if every person who looks at it has to ask what it is, it gives you a chance to talk about the school.

I am in your camp on this one VOR. IMO, looks like something a 3rd grader would draw.

I agree. I don't know what it is supposed to be and doesn't look good at all. Sorry but the first thing I thought of was a mushroom growing out of a pile of poop.

Don't think I would go that far, but get your point.

I'm glad Tusi started this thread. I think the logo looks great on their helmet as I to have grown tired of all the pro and college rip offs. I'm with many others in the thread still trying to focus on the image to see that hand.

I love the history behind the logo, that is what makes it great to me, more so then the actual design itself. For the design, I like it, it means more to the players then anyone and they shouldn't care what anyone thinks, heck, if I was in charge at Trinity, I wouldn't even tell anyone what it was, "it's a Rock thing, if I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand".

One thing that this thread did for me was give me an education about Trinity. Searching for Trinity on the web revealed a Wiki page about the school. Great information and description of what the school offers. In the big picture, Football is a small (what, did he really say that) that involves a small percentage of the Trinity Students. In reality, it's the other opportunities that make the school exceptional and able to shape the future in the most positive way. While I'm a Catholic, I did not send my kids to Catholic School. So I am not aware of other schools that do this kind of stuff. Locally, I do know that Covington Catholic provides great opportunities for their students in many areas. Is this common in Big Catholic schools?

From the Wiki Page...

"In 2001, Trinity became the first local school to adopt a system of ten "Houses" named after famous Catholic thinkers or saints. They include: Aquinas, Becket, Dante, Flannan, Gonzaga, Merton, Patrick, Romero, Seton and Toussaint. The Houses organize the student body into ten different groups which compete in numerous extracurricular activities, involve nearly 100 students in leadership opportunities as House captains or representatives and build upon school spirit. The House System is a way for students to make friends, and get connected and involved in the fabric of the school right away. Examples of House activities include: marquee events; basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and softball intramurals; PS2 tournaments; art, essay, speech, trivia and other academically oriented contests.
