Man 1 game into this and people are freaking out. Petrino has coached how many games? Stoops? Stoops will get better, long term I would want Stoops at the helm, it was his first game. Relax, grab a bourbon, and wait a few years. This roster is a mess and needs time to rebuild.

 

The Saban/UK/Stoops comparison is one of the biggest reaches in BGP history. UK football will never have the pedigree that Alabama football has. UK basketball=Alabama football. UK football=Alabama basketball.

Baseball they've split 6-6 the past six seasons. Each swept a year, split two meetings every other one. I was gonna look at other sports beyond that, but really, those aren't worth talking about. I don't even think baseball is. I'd just leave it at Louisville owns football the majority of the years, Kentucky owns basketball more of the years. UL is more competitive in the sport that UK has historically dominated than the other way around.

And just looking at head-to-head, and not the overall national profile of the programs and where they finish in NCAA competition doesn't make much sense. I mean, in 1997 Louisville team beat Kentucky in basketball; is that the end of the story as far as that year goes?

 

It may not seem fair when you consider the head to head, but Louisville baseball has a better profile than Kentucky baseball thanks to those two trips to Omaha. Kentucky beat Louisville in women's basketball last year, but Louisville beat three elite teams in the tournament on the way to title game appearance.

A good friend of mine was on the WKU sideline tonight. I sent a text asking if they were going to tear the goalposts down. He said, nope, we're used to beating UK.
