The state's two longest losing streaks ended tonight

Featured Replies

Clinton County (37 straight games) and McLean County (33 straight games) both ended their long losing streaks -- the two longest in the state.

Class 2A Clinton County beat Trimble County 13-6 tonight -- their first win since September 2009 when they beat Caverna 28-0. Clinton County almost snapped the losing streak in Week Two last year, but Trimble County escaped with a 10-8 victory.

McLean County beat Breckinridge County 29-14 -- their first win since a 2009 win over Ohio County.

The state's longest losing streaks are now owned by Greenup County (24 games), and Hopkins County Central (17 games)

Right in my families back yard. Of course that is the house people talked my father into buying when he lives in Northern Ky.

Good for them both. Hate to see kids, coaches and schools go through those kinds of streaks.

Greenup now has the longest, but they gave Russell all they wanted tonight and hopefully will end their drought soon, too.

Congrats to both of these teams!!!!!

My sentiments exactly!!

Awesome! Hats off to the boys who stuck it out. My guess is some boys who thought about playing said "ah, they never win" and were in the stands last night.

Great to see this!

Awesome!!! Great to see these kids who stuck with it get their win!!!

Congrats!

I am excited for both teams. Congratulations to the players, coaches and fans that stuck with these two teams during the rough times. I hope they cherish the moment they ended "the Streak" and it is seen as big event for their respective programs.

Really happy for Clinton County, they really face an uphill battle down there. Go Bulldogs!

Congrats to all of the players and coaches for staying with it and to the fans who stood beside their team through all of the bad times.

This is great news X2.

As others have said, I really feel good for the kids and coaches who stuck it out and for the fans, parents and everyone involved who supported the team.

Needless to say this is the first time any player on either team have tasted victory in their varsity high school career. It takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to keep coming out everyday and put in the work, and take the abuse necessary to play this game.

Congratulations guys, hope you enjoy it this week and then build on it moving forward.
