I'll simply put it this way. Until you knock them off they (BG) deserve to be up there, I would actually put them #2 last year right behind Trinity.

You can talk about all the close games etc. you want to, but the bottomline is BG still won those games and are 30-0 in their last 30 games.

#2? They barely escaped Lex Cath last year and the Birds mopped up the Knights. It was clear in '12, although it doesn't amount to a hill of beans, that Highlands finished #1. But we're talking 13' here, right?

Highlands SOS did include wins against #5,#7 and #10 twice.

 

I know it doesn't count but the scrimmage is played like a game and now add them to the list and the SOS separates themselves from everyone else except T.

I think you under estimate BG. If HHS is better this year, they aren't so far ahead that BG should be disregarded.

30-0 and most of their starters returning, HHS may be good but not that far ahead of BG, if they are ahead of them at all.

You can win by 1 pt or 100 pts, the outcome is still the same. Like I said, knock them off and then you can talk, but until then they are still 30-0

The good thing about Bowling Green and LexCath is that we find out who is better week 1! Last year I really do feel the Knights beat themselves.

When you can't protect the passer, get sacked 8 times, throw 3 interceptions....you usually do beat yourself.

Boy, no way I can rank them. It sounds like the top 4 all have outstanding cases given past results, schedules and returning players. T is T with another outstanding schedule coming up. Sounds like St. X is sitting on talent similar to what T's had the past couple years. HHS has their most anticipated senior class in memory and BG has a boatload of returning starters coming in with 30 straight wins. Flip a coin for me at this point.

I think BG week 1 and 3 games are a must see if you are in the area of those games.

 

I'm also really interested in HHS vs Trinity scrimmage. I know it's only a scrimmage but I don't care what anyone says, you can get a great deal of info from a scrimmage and it's a very good measuring stick. If T wins that scrimmage and goes on to win another state title then it may not matter what HHS does, T would probably be 1 in my end of season poll. I could get ripped by the HHS fans, but until you knock off the champ, they are still the champs, whether it be in a scrimmage or not.

All of these teams are powerhouses and return lots of talent. All of these teams have very tough schedules, especially Trinity. I'm not going to sit here and say my team is the best right now, because no one knows. I'm rooting for all of these teams, except when they play my Purples. I'm just proud to have this many great team in the Commonwealth. The rankings will work themselves out.

I believe St X and HHS's upcoming senior classes played each other head to head as frosh. I remember counting the number of players on the St X frosh team as they entered the stadium at HHS. Number of St X frosh exceeded 100 if I remember correctly. Anybody remember what the outcome of that game was?

FWIW, St X played a brutal schedule last yr imo, it will only make you better in the long run:thumb:

Its tough to have a strong SOS when you have to play Harrison Co and Pendleton Co. Nothing against them, just not football schools. If you took them off and replaced them with just average teams (which wouldn't be the case because they would schedule better teams), then where would that put the SOS for HHS? They can't help they HAVE to play those two schools.
