If what I'm hearing is correct from most of the comments that the scrimmage doesn't mean a thing, would opinions sway if Trinity spitshined the Birds again this year? Would it affect your placement of Highlands in the Top 3? I'm thinking that it most certainly would......so even though the scrimmage result doesn't matter to Dale and the rest of the coaching staff, the court of public opinion says otherwise.

And at the end of the day all ifs are thrown out and the facts are presented. Not slighting them, just a simple observation.

 

Actually the ifs dominate this site. What many call facts are simply opinions.

My PRESEASON Top 5:

 

1. Trinity

2. Highlands

3. Bowling Green

4. St. X

5. Lexington Catholic

 

No, I am not contradicting myself or changing my mind. I will stick with Highlands being #1 at the end of the year. For pre-season, I think you have to give earned respect and credit for the previous year. Unless you know a team lost everything and has little chance of maintaining what they did the previous year, then what happened the previous year gets considered in pre-season.

 

We are sure going to get some early season indicators on where these top 5 shake out. Bowling Green has Lex Cath in game 1 and St. X in game 3. Highlands has a scrimage versus Trinity. Lex Cath has Bowling Green game 1 and St. X in game 2. Within the first 3 games, this top 5 list may be pretty well decided.

 

With Quick and Wright being sick/ injured in the Scott County game made T look average. With that train of thought, are their replacements nearly as good as the two players for T that I mentioned. Serious question and hoping for someone in the know, can tell us who is expected to take their place? Quick, Wright and Hatcher will be missed a lot in my opinion.

While T had their way with the Birds last yr and the yr before in the Varsity scrimmage.

 

Anyone know how the JV scrimmage looked or turned out...

If HHS beats Trinity in the scrimmage than I don't want all of the Birds fans on here bragging about it. They have down played the last 2 games as nothing more than a time to experiment on defense and offense, nothing more, nothing less. It has to work the same way.

I think Bonnafon, Donald Brooks and Cody Swabek will be good. I believe T has 3 starting OL-men back. Don't know about D---lost Hatcher and Ryan White (CB and punt returner), as well as Jordan et al.

However, please keep in mind that Beatty has proved that he does not superstars to fashion a good team. I expect he will be up to the challenge especially with the new situation at St. X. Schedule is brutal though.

To a certain extent I agree. If it is a close game, it will not be definite proof that Highlands is better because it is a scrimmage and both teams are doing things differently, and vice versa. But if Highlands gets a clear win, say 3 TD's, let the bragging begin. Just like the previous two years clearly put Highlands in their place behind Trinity, a win by a good margin should put Highlands above Trinity.

I agree. I will be the first to say it. I, however, will loathe to hear Highlands fans brag about it considering the way that many down played the last two games.
