But that Bird isn't old school. If it was the "Mean Bird" then most people would agree. I'm just hoping some "other" suggestions that were given to the BOE members are implemented.

After having some discussions with some people in the know, this new video super screen is as important to the Communications program at Highlands as it is for Football.

 

What alot of people are missing is the fact that Highlands would never spend that kind of money for just a single sport and in this case this new scoreboard/video marvel is going to serve both student/athlete's alike.

 

My understanding is there will be 5 cameras that will be manned, videographer, announcer and game management (ie-score, clock, etc) All of these positions filled by skilled Highlands students within the communications capstone program.

 

I think this is an awesome idea and the correct way to spend money that will benefit all the students at Highlands, not just the athletes. :thumb:

There will be no distinctive identification that this is a "Football" only investment project.

The scoreboard will not have anything that refers to Highlands football on it other than the scores and the fact that it will say BIRDS and not Bluebirds.

 

We all know Dale likes to be called BIRDS so his wish is one command.

 

State Championships will be displayed in other areas of the facility.

I dont know the answer yet to that one but my understanding is the new Super is taking the Capstone Programs to another level implementing as many students into roles that adults have filled in yrs past.

 

Its all about the kids today and an National reccoginized Blue Ribbon school like Highlands is ready to cash in and set the bar for others to follow.

So when will movie nights start? That would sell very well to the community. Have these capstone students "work" the event and they could show movies (if the board is put over by the school) and charge like 5 bucks a kid. They could clean up. I'd let my kids go up there to that.

The scoreboard will have to be placed for Foundation members to view it clearly. They are ultimately the ones paying for it in the end....The upfront cost is being paid by the school but the foundation is responsible for finding sponsors to repay the funds back. So my guess is the board will be somewhere where it is now.....

I also heard "they" will now be referring to "Whiskey Row" now as "Hydration Lane" just to not send the wrong image or message. LOL

 

Sorta like "they" wanted to change "Death Valley" to "Pleasant Valley"

That's a kool idea. Each movie could start with Highlands Football Srs handing out programs, there could be highlight clips of some Highlands "Great Football Moments" before the show and then they could serve "Blue Koolaid" at intermission.
