May 3, 201313 yr I haven't weighed 150 since HS and then my body fat was right around 7-8%. I couldn't imagine weighing 45 lbs less than I do right now, do you have an ultimate goal in mind on where you want to be for your BF%? No goal. I'm mainly measuring so I can use for info on my races and to track progress.

May 3, 201313 yr Author One more day and I will have completed a month of Insanity workouts. It was a challenge and for the first few days I dreaded doing it. But now I look forward to it. I feel great, have more energy, and I'm less stressed and more patient. Took awhile to start to notice the physical change, about 2 1/2 weeks. It really does work everything, especially the core.
May 3, 201313 yr How do you measure it? My trainer does. It's some kind of clamp thing she used on about 10 different spots.
May 3, 201313 yr Insanity workouts start tomorrow plus I will continue to lift weights. I hurt my shoulder about a month ago so I had kept my bench down to 275 but Wed I thought I felt good and on my last lift(as far as going up) I was able to do 315 again. The guy who spotted me, but did not touch the bar at all said you have another 10 pounds in you, but I would not try it seeing how you are favoring your right arm/shoulder. I dropped down to 225 and did two more sets with 225. 13 reps on the first and 7 on the last.

With that said the electronic scale I'm using now always said my BF% was about 2-3% higher than when the trainers did it. Apparently the electronic method can't 100% account for your individual dynamic body composition but it does a decent job of giving you a good consistent ball park of where you're at. I have broad shoulders, wear a size 33(with room to spare) and have thicker legs so it always struggles with me.
May 4, 201313 yr Bad bad sprained ankle. (Self diagnosed) I shot a jumper Sunday night and a guy stuck his foot under me and I crumbled upon landing. I've been icing all week but I can't run and it's killing me.

The calipers are probably more accurate then anything short of spending a bunch of money on on the hydro or X-ray method. To be honest the mirror test probably says more then anything.

Agreed, I don't even know of a place around here that does hydro or X-Ray, I would think that would just be for professional athletes or folks that are worth a lot of money trying to get a life insurance policy or something along those lines.
May 4, 201313 yr In Knoxville for my first half Ironman on Sunday. Best of luck. Weather looks terrible. I have a friend doing Knoxville as well this weekend.

I know you can get it done in Louisville. Someone I train with has done hydro a few times.
May 4, 201313 yr I've pretty much stopped going to the gym since I hurt my ribs, but I've continued to run pretty consistently. Been running a little over a mile a day, but I'm planning on kicking it up to 2-3 miles soon. I'd eventually like to do a 5K, then a 10K.
