May 12, 201313 yr Author Day 8 workout 7 in the books. Wasn't as bad as far as being winded as my legs and bad back hurting(more of of burning sensation) My brother threw up again. For those doing this workout how long do you go without eating before working out. I have tried this-Eat breakfast around six thirty (6 egg white omelet with all veggies once in a while add a little cheese and meat bacon or ham) 2 pieces of turkey sausage, very small) and 1/4 cup of shredded hash browns) then wait until after the workout to eat again. The problem with that is I have zero energy about halfway through. When I eat a light lunch before the workout (say 4 hours before) I always taste throw up. Thanks in advance for any assistance with this. Congrats on staying with it 8 days! I have never thrown up from the workout. You know how it flashes on the screen, "Go at your own pace."? :lol2: It's tough to gauge the timing for eating. I grab a handful of almonds before I do Insanity. Also--I've never been a Gatorade drinker, just water. But with the 60 min. DVDs, I've been drinking a small Gatorade and water. Taking a much needed day off from the workout. But did a lot outdoor work and chores. Big win today. My kids said I was getting smaller. :lol2:
May 12, 201313 yr I started this cutting phase at 218 and about 18% BF. I've been focused almost completely on getting stronger b/c I knew that this phase was coming. I'm in week 2 of 10. Sprint workout two days a week and then walk an hour every day that I'm not sprinting. Workouts now consist of bodybuilding splits (1-2 muscle groups per session). I do 2 days on/1 day off. Start each session w/ a heavy compound lift and then go at it, 30 sec. rests b/n sets. I am very sore, which lets me know that I've stepped out of my comfort zone. We'll see what happens. 4 mos in. Bench - 255x4 (goal is 315-325 behind schedule) Squat - 335 x 4 (goal is 405. On schedule) Deadlift - 360 x 5 (goal is 500. Borderline) Shoulder Press - 160x 5 (goal is 205. I should beat this) If you it all those numbers you're seriously STRONG dude. Well rounded. Hope you hit it.
May 12, 201313 yr Hammered out 4000 yards in the pool this evening! It's tough swimming that long alone.
May 12, 201313 yr Little bro is back in town from college and looking to drop about 40 lbs. I introduced him to the core lifts of the workout. Monday we start doing it with the cardio/core intervals in between. I love picking on him.

As far as eating, how long before doing the work out are you eating? I lift in the morning and never eat first. I drink a shake of protein powder and BCAA the I take 1 1/2 scoops of Jack3d. In the afternoon before CrossFit I don't eat or take anything. I usually go at 4:30 and I haven't eaten since lunch at around 11:30.
May 12, 201313 yr Mexiucky's post about goals got me thinking about my own. I guess mine right now would be... Squat - 300 (last 1rm was 265) Press - body weight 175 (I've never tried a 1rm n press, my guess is around 140) Deadlift - 350 (currently 320) Bench - 275 (last 1rm was 245) One of the trainers at my crossfit gym let me borrow Jim Wendler's second edition of 5/3/1. Anyone looking to get stronger needs to do theirselves a favor and get their hands on a copy.

He takes Jiu-Jitsu classes MON-THURS usually two classes a night before we started doing this, so he is in decent shape. This time we ate 3 1/2 hours before we worked out.
May 12, 201313 yr Day nine in the books. A lot easier, but not easy for me this time around. My bro is sick and still did the workout. He is a better man than I.

May 13, 201313 yr The hardest thing I have ever attempted to do. I am so glad my brother and I are doing it together.
May 13, 201313 yr The workout at the gym went well I did six things for my tri's, three things for my legs, one thing for my back and three for my gut. Today was also weigh in day and I am happy to report down six pounds. 218 is the weight now.
May 13, 201313 yr Pulled the groin and tweeked my left knee last Friday. Only feeling about 75% and just got a call today about having to go do an agility and physical test for a job opportunity on Wednesday. Here's to hoping for some sweet healing over the next 36 hours, icing my knee and shins right now actually.
May 13, 201313 yr Author The hardest thing I have ever attempted to do. I am so glad my brother and I are doing it together. I agree it's hard. But do you like the program? Do you think it's effective? I like it. Especially when it's done for the day!
