November 2, 201312 yr Ran my 7th. Half Marathon this morning at the Shakertown Half Marathon Trail Run. 13.1 miles of pure off road hell. Mud, Grass, Gravel, Hills, and a few creeks to cross. I have never been so happy to see a finish line more than this morning. Got 2nd. in my age group and won "Blackberry" jam. Just what someone needs who has lost over 100lbs. on a low carb diet.
November 3, 201312 yr He is straight CRUSHING the marathon. All splits but two are sub 9. Can you PM me the info to track him? I've been sitting here at work wondering how he's doing.
November 3, 201312 yr Crushed his time goal and went sub 4 on the marathon. VERY impressive. And of even greater importance, his wife is about 2 miles away from hearing the sweetest words in the English language, "YOU. ARE. AN. IRONMAN".

November 6, 201312 yr Thanks for the support, guys. Just now getting my wits back about me and getting caught up at work but much love and support from all of our fitness folks in this thread and across BGP land. My swim was around 1:25. The waves were ROCKING. When the pros went out they were getting blasted backwards so we all knew it would be a tough go on the swim. Had it been ideal conditions I am pretty sure I could have been under 1:20 no problem. My bike ended up being 6:22. Ok, but I was hoping to be around 6 hours. I felt like absolute crap though for about 60-70 miles of the bike. Queasy and my stomach was unsettled. I did not have high hopes for the pending marathon. However, the best part about an IM day is that is long enough so that you can feel like crap but still have enough time to feel better! The temp was a little warmer than anticipated being in the low 80s, uppers 70s through the day. I started the run and started feeling good after mile 1. I relaxed and ran at an 8:00-8:20 pace and would walk through the water stations for 45-60 seconds and stayed in that rhythm to try and hang around 8:50 mile splits. I was able to maintain that until the last 6 miles or so where I was slowing to around a 9:00 minute pace and walking for 75-90 seconds. But I plugged along and knew at mile 22 I was going to break 4 hours in the marathon. Breaking 4 hours in a marathon alone is great, but after an 8 hour workout is awesome and made up a lot for my sub-par swim and bike splits. My marathon time was 3:57:49. My final time was 12:11:33. I took off 1:20 from 2 years ago. And my wife made it in about 2 and half hours later. So cool to know we are one of the few Iron Couples out there. Could not be more proud of Mrs. bugatti.

Excellent! Inspiring! Congrats to both you and the Mrs.
November 12, 201312 yr Author I've been alternating the workouts between running about 4 miles outside or doing an Insanity DVD. This alternating is kind of a big deal for me. I used to get so focused on one or the other, and would be afraid to switch it up. I have noticed that this switching has made me a better runner. Today--with the dusting of white stuff--- I'm working out inside. :lol2: How about the rest of you? How are your workouts?
November 19, 201312 yr Author How are the workouts going? I've been getting something done almost every day, either hitting the trails or pushing play on the DVD. I need motivation to stay the course during the upcoming season of overindulgence. :lol2: Wishing you all a strong finish for 2013.
