Boom. You've signed up. That's half the battle..... sort of. Seriously, congratulations, you will do great. I'm about ready to do my 8th full marathon up in Louisville here in a few weeks.

Derby half has to be the flattest half in the world.

Taking one for the team and slowing my pace to run 21 with my wife and another guy in the morning. Oh well, I'm always up for a 20+ miler. Should keep me fresh to mow or do whatever the rest of the day.

I hate you.

Since I injured the ribs I've been doing nothing but running. I haven't ran much in a few years so I'm slowly easing back into it and running about a mile a day. Going to try and kick it up to 2-3 miles later this week. I would eventually love to run a 5K, 10K and maybe a half marathon.

See you at the Derby as I am running the half. Staying at the Gault House and looking forward to a fast course. I am working hard now for a PR (Sub 2).

I do my 30 minutes of cardio (usually jogging X 4, cycling 1, eliptical 1 or 2 replacing jogging) + 30 minutes of weights in the morning chest - back - shoulders alternating. I walk the dogs 45 minutes in the evening, but the main thing: I have added the SQUAT CHALLENGE to the evening walk...day 1 50 squats, day 2 55, day 3, 60 rest 1 day, then add 5 each day for three days, then one day off until you get to 200 squats. Several of us are doing this and text each other when we do our squats.

Speaking of squats

yesterday was my first day back after a week off due to a Spring Break trip w/ the family.

5/3/1 week of 3 - Squats

Straight Leg Deadlift 8x, 8x, 6x

400 meter run/20 DB swings/15 leg raises 4 rotations

Barbell biceps curls 15x, 12x, 10x, 8x

Neck Machine 3 sets of 15 side-to-side, each side.

It's been a rough week so far. This was my first week back after vacation and 2 weeks of being sick. So basically I have only done very light lifting and limited crossfit for the last 3 weeks. I could definitely tell in my cardio and strength. Lost a ton on my squat and bench. Hopefully it won't take long to get it back.

That's great to have that motivation and accountability with others doing the same. I have a friend who is also doing Insanity workouts, and we text each other to stay motivated. Nice to have that "check in" point.

Just got done running. I've ran every day this week which is unusual for me.

I have been having issues with my left shoulder for a couple of months, this morning it felt as good as it has in a while, still some pain.

This morning was 5/3/1 Press

Shrugs 4 x 12

High pulls 3 x 10

Weight sit ups 3 x 30 holding a 25lb plate

Strict Toes 2 Bar - 3 x 10

10 mins of shoulder and chest stretches

So just like I said I was going to I wrote down all of my workouts last week, then this week did the first one in reverse order with an increase in weights and plan to continue trying this with my workouts the rest of the week. I was short on time because I had to make an emergency trip to the dentist today so I ended up only having about half the time of what I usually do at the gym, I found that already having the lifts and weights written out really helped me save time and move right along with my workout. I did

Back flies 2 sets x 12 & 9

military press 2 sets x 12

Chest Flies 2 sets x 12 & 10

Wide grip lat pulls 2 sets x 12 &12

Flat Bench 2 sets x 10

Lat pulls 2 sets 12 & 8

Incline bench 2 sets x 10 & 7

Pushups to fail

Did it all in about 35-40 minutes.

First, the best news. I had my 3 month oncology checkup this past week. I am happy to say that there is no signs of a cancer recurrance at the moment!

Earlier in the week, I tweaked my lower back somehow. I noticed it toward the end of a hike. So, I layed low most of the week, took some ibuprofen and rested. After spending a good part of today shopping, my back seemed to be doing well, so the dog and I hit the trails for a nice hike. I'm pleased to say my back held up and that my dog seems to be in better shape than her first hike of the season last week. Afterwards, I went to the gym and did a little work with weights and some nice stretching. My back still feels fine, so I am hoping whatever strain that I had is now gone.

Just when I was getting back into Insanity....got sick with a nasty sinus infection that has wiped me out. Went to Urgent Care yesterday and started a round of meds.

Still doing a shorter workout of strength and abs and cardio. But need to wait until my lung capacity has recovered before I step up the cardio. Hopefully in a couple days.

Here's to hoping that you feel better soon!
