Decided I'm just gonna focus on high reps for the next month or so to work on stamina and getting ready to sport those speedos this summer.... totally kidding. Back's still tight like a knot so I haven't done too much with it. So today I did bench I haven't tried to do 185 more than maybe 10x in quite a while, I didn't have a spot so I didn't go too hard but I was able to muster out 18 reps. Then the next set only 10, so clearly my decision to work on stamina and muscle endurance is probably a necessary decision. Did incline bench, push ups, flies, shoulder press and then some back stuff that wasn't forcing the shoulder blades to come together. I've also made a goal of making sure I'm doing at the very least 15 miles each week(may try to up it a couple each week) of either elyptical, treadmill or the bike. I think for a while just lifting was making me a little tense and the cardio helps to mellow me out a little and not be wound so tight.

Tuesday I did Day 1 of Insanity. Exhausting, but I made it!

Wednesday I was traveling all day.

Thursday, more traveling, but hit the hotel treadmill for a 20 min run.

Friday I plan to get back to Insanity. Trying to decide if I should do DVD 1 again or go to DVD 2?

Just want to add that when I hit the "what's new" button, and this thread pops up with a New post, it's the first thread I go to. You all motivate me and keep me going.

I want to thank each of you for sharing your fitness journey, and for allowing me to share mine.

Follow the schedule in order, I would say.

Shoulder press day, easily my favorite day

Shoulder Press 5/3/1 week of 5 super set 7 pullups (total of 8 sets)

Close Grip Bench 3 sets of 10 superset w/ Facepulls 3 sets of 25

Shrug pyramid 135-225-315-415-315-225-135

Overhead Tricep Ext. 100 reps

Jump rope 3 minutes/15 hanging leg raise, 5 rotations

Neck work

Sounds like a Sumo Deadlift High Pull. What weight KB did you use? Those are fun with a barbell as well.

Exactly what it was but I didn't know the name. I believe it was 25 or 30 lbs.

Well unfortunately I need some more injury advice. The last post was about my knee and I think you all were spot on. The pain went away after taking a day or two off.

Problem is now I think I've injured my ribs. While playing basketball and diving on the floor for a loose ball I hurt my ribs. It hurt when I did it but not all that much. I thought it was nothing. After a few days of rib pain it started to go away so I went to the gym. It hurt a little during the workout, nothing all that bad. The next day my ribs were very sore and hurt to touch and the pain spread from the front where it originally hurt all the way into my back. It doesn't ache all that much, but it hurts like hell if I move certain ways. It's been this way for almost a week now.

I don't take any pain meds and I've just been running instead of lifting as well because running doesn't hurt nearly as bad. I tried to go to the gym the other day and I couldn't make it though a workout.

Is the only solution to rib pain rest? I don't plan on seeing a doctor at this point because I don't think it's anything serious and I don't believe they can do anything for ribs anyways. Any suggestions?

That's been my experience...rest, or buck up and deal with the pain.

I tried to fight through it but couldn't. Was mainly worried that I'd hurt myself more since going back to the gym made it worse the first time.

I thought I'd be better by now but after some reading it appears rib injuries can linger.

Rest indeed, probably wouldn't hurt to get an X ray and make sure it's nothing too serious or something that could get worse. They say self diagnosing can lead to further problems, I don't know any one that doesn't do that though. I hurt mine last summer and ended up with what I believe was a stress fracture that whenever I tried to do sit-ups or golf would always flare up. The only thing that really helped was the cold weather keeping me from golfing and not doing sit ups for a while.

If you bruised them, they are very painful. You'll have to wait for the bruise to go away, which will take a bit. I did that during football and it was hard to breath as well.

Hurts when I take a deep breath and hurts really bad if I cough or sneeze. Allergies were getting to me yesterday and I sneezed about 100 times. Would have been funny if it didn't hurt so dang bad lol.

I'm one of those who feels like its probably just nothing every time something hurts. Usually I'm right and it will go away. This time it won't unfortunately.

You probably want to get it checked out then by a doctor.
