I've seen enough games and played in enough games to know when an official is not in position to make the correct call. And I have verified the call by watching game films afterwards.

If you don't know what the primaries are then you do NOT know when someone is calling out of their territory. Period.

If you see a foul, you call it right? It doesn't matter who's territory it is. I often hear people complain that "it isn't his call". I always answer, "it was a foul right?". If it is a foul, then call the foul. I don't care if it is under the basket and the official making the call is out top. If it is the right call, then there should be no complaints.

Kind of lost the thread here. VOR's point, I believe, is that he would like to hear about the games and not officials calls when we all can site instances in every game where we all can question calls. Good teams and good coaches generally do not let those things have the kids lose focus. Over the course of the season tehse things usually even out. I agree with VOR try and stay with the game details and opinions about the game itself. I have never officiated but it looks to be a pretty thankless job. I truly believe they are trying to do their best. Just like players and coaches there are levels of competency within their ranks.

I think robots are the only real solution. Humans just make way too many mistakes. Bring in some robots and clean things up.

I dont think coaches and players have problems with missed calls, they are going to happen in games. Humans make mistakes just part of our make up. However when it is very blatant, an example 3 illegal screens, and two technicals in 40 seconds from the same official as I witnessed this week. Or the old Bobby Keith Clay County days something like 120 straight wins at home . Winning out of region is a big task. Referees love to keep their region coaches happy especially when they can scratch them and stop them from doing games.

I am constantly amused by people in the stands who are able to call a better game 20 rows up than the guy who is 3 feet away from the action. Most of them don't even know the rules! For those people, just be careful when you are raking the ref over the coals; you might be sitting next to his wife in the stands!

Agree. And if you have to scream something for everyone to hear, show some class and mind the language, remember where you are at the moment.

I think for the most part officials do a really good job. Some crews allow my physical play than others, but that's no different than strike zones in baseball. You just have to adjust to the game. My biggest complaint with officials (three man crews in particular) is that sometimes it seems like one official hasn't made many calls and then they try to get involved by blowing the whistle a few consecutive trips. Maybe that is just perception.

I think there also is something to be said about officials that are consistently working games that get out of control. I would say 75% of the games that Don A. out of the 8th region works result in extra pushes and shoves, angry coaches, hostile crowds, T's and intentionals.

I agree with a lot of what has been posted in this thread, officials are human, the games are fast, and calls are going to be missed....but it generally evens itself out during a game. Now for my one objection directed at a number of officials, call a consistent game throughout...far to many times I have seen a game that is being played physically turn into a touch foul contest in the last 3-4 minutes. Drives me crazy! Set the tone early and call it accordingly.

Someone else asked the question, have I ever worn the stripes, yeah, I called a handful of 5th grade games, parents were ruthless, scared the you know what out of me!
