November 7, 201213 yr So why keep blindly sticking up for big corporations? They're trying to put you out of business — the amount of money they poured into this election is a perfect example of it. The biggest snowjob in the world is the one that the GOP's funding mechanism has pulled on small business owners. To be honest, in my line of business, there really is not a "WalMart" that is taking my customers. My busines depends on other small business, "owner/operators" like us. I don't blindly stick up for big corporations, but I do stick up for evryone wanting to operate in a business friendly climate, which is becoming less and less, and will continue to get worse under the current conditions. Crony Capitalism does not work. In a much better business climate, I would be able to buy advertising space in the only NKY daily paper.....The Jim Schue Gazette.:thumb:

Here's what too many small-business owners don't want to hear: The "business-friendly climate" that national right-wing idealogues triumph is a "business-friendly climate" set up to help the Wal-Marts, Coca-Colas, Dutch Royal Shells and Sonys of the world, not the Jim Schue Gazettes, spindoc's Drive-thru Dentistry or the FBD's Quick Stops of the world, and is actually designed to make things harder for us. Quit voting in legislators who suck off the teat of corporate campaign cash — Dems and the GOP are both guilty as all get-out, and McConnell is the worst of all of it — and vote for real people looking out for other real people, not whoever can put together the slickest, nastiest ad campaign.

November 7, 201213 yr I'm here. I just don't have the financial backing and other credentials for success in politics. Go figure.

November 7, 201213 yr It's never too late. It's only too late if conservative white males walk around acting like it's too late and continue to stubbornly clutch to the belief that their ideology is the right ideology and everyone else be damned. It doesn't have to be that way. There are some things that I believe are universal truths, that I just can't, and won't, compromise on. Not many, but a few. It is not even ideology, it is just truth. I'm not even in-your-face about them, I just quietly will not ever give in on them and if I always lose, then I always lose.

The biggest snowjob in the world is the one that the GOP's funding mechanism has pulled on small business owners. Tax wise you couldn't possible be more off base. And for the record, I don't think you have to be necessarily pro "big corporate" to have a sensible tax code for small business owners.
November 7, 201213 yr Only if that 93% typically voted for the opposite party. That's what kills me. Blacks have voted democrat since the 70's. Yes, a viable, true, non Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton acting black man running for president will bring out more blacks to vote than normal but blacks vote democrats anyways. Serious question for you....suppose Colin Powell and Condi Rice ran on the same republican ticket and that 93% black vote switched parties and voted for them. Would you have a problem with it then? The day the Republican Party chooses to appeal to more than just white men, then maybe, just maybe the demographics in those who vote republican just might change. Oh my God! The bolded statement just elicited an AMEN! from me...a very loud one....and now the people in the hospital waiting room with me think I'm a looney toon. Well...it may have been the cackling laughter that followed that outburst....but.... Bravo, PP2! And AMEN!
November 7, 201213 yr Do you have the desire to run? Yes. Just not the know how. Or the money. Or the connections. I love politics though.

I hear you and understand your feelings but isn't that type of attitude why we are where we are at? Shouldn't politics be like a marriage where there is give and take and compromise from both sides?

November 7, 201213 yr Tax wise you couldn't possible be more off base. And for the record, I don't think you have to be necessarily pro "big corporate" to have a sensible tax code for small business owners. I don't think you're comprehending me. Just because it's good for big businesses doesn't mean it is for small businesses. The bottom line is nobody stands up for small business; instead they think that "pro-business" is an all-encompassing umbrella. If the country's backbone is truly small businesses, lets put the money where the mouth is. Stop giving big corporations every single thing they ask for. Divert that investment in the economy toward small entrepreneurs.
November 7, 201213 yr I hear you and understand your feelings but isn't that type of attitude why we are where we are at? Shouldn't politics be like a marriage where there is give and take and compromise from both sides? What "principle" that they believe deeply in is the left willing to compromise on? Let's talk unions. The Dems of 2 state legislatures shut down their respective state governments because they fairly lost on their principle that everyone who works should be in a union. Are you, or is the leadership of your party willing to compromise on that?
