November 7, 201213 yr Here's my deep thought. 1992-2000-Democrat President 2000-2008-Republican President 2008-2016-Democrat President 2016-2024-Republican President Deep, huh? I thought you were a democrat?
November 7, 201213 yr Here's another simple answer to Papa's questions...America always votes for the more personable candidate when it comes to the Presidency. Going to back to when debates were televised, have we ever gone the other way? Find out the answer to this question: Who would you rather sit down & have a beer with, and you will discover who is going to win the White House. Boy don't you think Bush 1 and Dukakis was a struggle to find a personality?
November 7, 201213 yr I don't think you're comprehending me. Just because it's good for big businesses doesn't mean it is for small businesses. The bottom line is nobody stands up for small business; instead they think that "pro-business" is an all-encompassing umbrella. If the country's backbone is truly small businesses, lets put the money where the mouth is. Stop giving big corporations every single thing they ask for. Divert that investment in the economy toward small entrepreneurs. At that point I agree. But in no form or fashion does the democratic platform and it's tax burden upon my small business appear to ever be anything I could vote for. And I can assure you that my tax burden will get worse after Jan. 1. So, if my vote is personal, how in the world could I invite that upon myself? I do understand what you're saying, but from personal experience, the tax situation under this plan/administration is faaaaaaaaar worse than before. I'm not for Wal-mart squeezing out mom&pop's biz anymore than you are. But talking strictly from my personal tax/accounting history and what I'll be facing, I'd far prefer to have an R in office.
November 7, 201213 yr Which faith? All faiths (religions). As I far I know they all call for moral standards.
November 7, 201213 yr Boy don't you think Bush 1 and Dukakis was a struggle to find a personality? Yes, but I think Bush 1 was clearly more personable than Dukakis.
November 7, 201213 yr I don't know anyone like you are describing. Everyone I know works hard and pays taxes and accepts that. I even know people that are for Obamacare and don't care about their rising healthcare costs because it helps out other people. I don't know anyone who wants someone who wants something they didn't work for. I think that person or people are being blown out of proportion big time by the right. You must know only a small group of people. I know of several and unfortunately some are relatives. Guess that is why I hardly ever see them. And while I do not believe it encompasses the 47%, I do believe it is large enough percentage to make a difference in the election. Also mentioned were people of lower moral standards who accept many forms of perversion.

Doc, I don't know anything about your business, but what taxes on your business have been enacted by this administration?
November 7, 201213 yr Yes, but I think Bush 1 was clearly more personable than Dukakis. Dana Carvey was. I don't know about the real GHWB.

Never said Democrats had all the answers. When I said "nobody is standing up for small businesses," I meant it. But to continue blindly supporting the GOP national agenda isn't helping you any more than supporting a Dem would. Quit allowing yourself to be distracted by the social platforms of both parties and instead pressure those pols -- on both sides of the aisle -- to quit helping the corporate world destroy our country.
November 7, 201213 yr I'd love to Jim, but the SBA does that very thing, where has it gotten them. Heck I'd protest, do a sit in, parade nude if I thought it would help. At this point, it doesn't matter. I'm serious when I say I'm seriously considering shutting the doors.

At this point, it doesn't matter. I'm serious when I say I'm seriously considering shutting the doors. What is the SBA's position on the question of "are corporations people?" I'm guessing they don't donate to campaigns at the level of the Jack Welches of the world. My guess is the SBA operates under the same delusions as most other small business owners: that what's good for big business is what's good for small business.
November 7, 201213 yr What "principle" that they believe deeply in is the left willing to compromise on? Let's talk unions. The Dems of 2 state legislatures shut down their respective state governments because they fairly lost on their principle that everyone who works should be in a union. Are you, or is the leadership of your party willing to compromise on that? I'm willing to talk and compromise about anything. Always have been. I can't answer for people I don't talk to though.
November 7, 201213 yr I thought you were a democrat? Just making a prediction. I got my info from PP Gold from 539.com.

And while I do not believe it encompasses the 47%, I do believe it is large enough percentage to make a difference in the election. Also mentioned were people of lower moral standards who accept many forms of perversion. I guess I'm just fortunate. I don't know anyone who wants government assistance and is proud of it and lives for it.

My guess is the SBA operates under the same delusions as most other small business owners: that what's good for big business is what's good for small business. So, how do you suppose small business owners make a dent? If we have an organization, to which I belong, and that collective lobby sucks, what then? Am I supposed to think I can make a difference in policy alone? All I have to go on is history. And in my 17 years of doing this, this current administration, and what's looming via Obamacare is likely able to sink my ship. So, what did you suppose I'd do? How is supporting a party that would have likely repealed that garbage a dumb move? I don't support the tax loopholes for corporate giants any more than you do. But there are ways of tax reform that could do that without harming the little guy. Could this administration have done that? Absolutely, but instead that healthcare package is loaded with issues small business owners will struggle mightily to overcome.
