This will be one of the best second rounders in the state IMHO.

Anderson nearly beat FC, correct? Look what Cooper did to Anderson.

Why do you say Conner's defense has played well the second half of the season? The only game I see that might say that is the 12 points to Cov Cath and we know that was played in poor conditions. Conner gave up 32 points to Scott the week before Cov Cath, Franklin County only allowed Scott 10 points last week.

When conner played Scott, they had 6-7 starters out. Including Fogle. If Conner plays Scott at full strength, that game is not nearly as close as it was. They played an almost perfect defensive game against Cooper, regardless of weather conditions they held Covington Catholic to 12 points. The Conner defense is not as bad as the numbers make them look. They have a lot of athletes on that side of the ball, who are capable of making big plays.

I think if Conner were playing CCH this week, the poll would pick CCH at about 70% to beat Conner. I don't believe there is anyone who has changed their mind on that despite the Conner win.

The big difference, though,is that FC's offense is more explosive than Cooper or CCH. Neither of those had a D1 QB and a stud D1 TD-maker.

As I look at the FC schedule, a few things stick out.

 

1) Zero 6A opponents.

2) Opponents record 46-54. (last season 44-55).

3) Only played three teams with winning records; 1A Frankfort (9 wins makes FC's opponents record look much better), 5A Anderson Co. (shut out last week by Cooper), 5A Montgomery Co. (dismantled last week by Conner).

 

FC's schedule is once again suspect and imo Conner's schedule has been much more challenging with 5 of their opponents still playing in week two, while FC has only two (one is 1A Frankfort) opponents playing in week two. Conner also played (4) 6A opponents. I gotta believe that Conner's season has prepared them for this game, very similar to last season. These are the reasons why I think the Cougars are more than ready for Friday night.

Once again, you see things as an outsider and make assumptions without knowing all of the facts about the Scott game. Believe it or not, Conner has really not been full strength all season, but they keep finding a way. Their D has played much better the second half. That's a fact. Just ask your Jags or Colonels. Conner's line will control the LOS vs. FC.

Let's hope the D is at full strength this week and they show an outsider who they are. The Conner line is a good group. I am rooting for the Cougars!
